My parents are going to Altadena and overwhelmed by all the hotel options. They want to stay in a hotel that is central. I'd love to know where locals tell their friends to stay when they visit, and why those areas and hotels are special. thanks!
It is cheaper to stay in Altadena than Pasadena. I recommend Residence Inn in Altadena. All the roms are suites and have kitchens. They are well maintained and the property may serve either cooked breakfast, happy hour or both. If you are a Marriott rewards member it is good to stick with the brand and consolidate points. From the fanciest full service Marriott to the more affordable properties, the quality is consistently good.

Just like with the restaurant question, though you'll undoubtedly find good accommodations in Altadena, expand your search to Pasadena. It will give you many more choices, and with the two being adjacent to each other, you won't have to travel far. Though they are similar in character, Pasadena is the larger of the two and more urban. Altadena is smaller and more rural.
