Road Trip

A girl trip is planned for October.  We fly into  Albuquerque for balloon festival,  drive toward Flagstaff, to Sedona then to the Grand Canyon, then to Vegas to fly home. Time is not an issue.  Are there places that are must sees along the way?

If you can make it to Santa Fe (worth the drive) stop at Meow Wolf Taos Pueblo is amazing, Ojo Caliente Mineral Springs Resort & Spa is well worth a visit - a day at the hot springs is a must! In Sedona so many beautiful hikes to do, stop at a visitor info place and look at trail options that fit your time schedule and make sure to have a meal at ChocolaTree Organic Eatery

The drive is beautiful.   It has been many years since I did it.... back when it was Route 66 , before I-10.    I'm not sure about specific things but be sure to do it driving during the day.  Stop in the little towns and ask the locals in the coffee shops to recommend the sites in their area.   If you have time when you get to Flagstaff, take the drive north to the Grand Canyon National Park.   Once you leave Flagstaff heading to Las Vegas, other than Hoover Dam the drive is much less compelling.... Invest your time between  Santa Fe and Flagstaff.

Also, time permitting, be sure to see Sedona.... a truly memorable area.   Lots of magnificent rocks & dramatic landscapes.   It is an internationally know destination, but still has that small town feeling.   Great restaurants and lodging to fit a variety of pocket books.   The 4-wheel drive tours will give you the all the views you could want.  It is less than an hour drive from Flagstaff and worth the extra effort my take.

Wish I could go.
