Abel Tasman National Park Wellington

Abel Tasman to Wellington in 1 day in Campervan ?

Wondering if doing the 4 hr [campervan] drive (hope that is accurate ?) from Abel Tasman to Picton and then the ferry ride from Picton to Wellington .. ALL IN 1 day .. is realistic or a good idea ?

It's doable. We didn't drive a campervan but did go on a bus from Nelson to Picton , then the ferry from Picton to Wellington . The drive from Nelson to Picton was around two hours. 
The ferry ride is around 3 to 3.5 hours and here is the Interislander's time table, instructions on how to get to the ferry terminal and more:

You can search the fares, check availability and buy your tickets by entering your travel date, the number of passengers, and type of vehicle (including length, with or without a trailer).

I think it is a great idea! Should be close to 8 hours of travel, which is not bad at all.

It looks like the road trip planner got a big confused by this route, because you actually have to take a ferry from Picton to Wellington, so the "driving" time is a lot longer, more like 8 hours, not 4 hours:

Take a look at Bluebridge or Interislander for more info on a ferry. You may need to specify the length and/or height of your campervan.
