About Me

Lifelong Traveler, Military kid and then Military adult! Born in Hawaii, lived on Midway Island, Italy (Naples and Vicenza), California (Simi Valley and Fairfield), Texas, the Philippines, and Virginia (Hampton, Williamsburg and Fairfax).  Spent my life moving about every 2 years and caused me to develop the Gypsy in my Blood syndrome.  I can't stay home more than a couple weeks now without going through serious withdrawals and planning an escape!

My desire is to share my travel addiction and passion with everyone.  I started my travel blog and website in February to finally "Be what I want to be when I grow up" (Since I'm pretty sure I'm a grown up now)!  You can find me on twitter @TTsTrippin, Facebook page at the Joyful Journeyist and my website  For me, Traveling IS the destination.

ASan Antonio: Public transportation

It depends on where you stay. If you don’t stay downtown the parking at most hotels is free. Our public transportation system (buses only) is not the best. You’re probably better off to rent a car. Are you planning on just doing the downtown (Riverwalk and Alamo)... See More

ASan Diego: Relaxed weekend in San Diego

One of my favorite scenic places is  La Jolla .  The coastline is gorgeous and you can just park for the day and walk everywhere.  It is especially nice to watch sunset from the rocks or grassy area along the coast road. There... See More

Heading to Enfield, NH next weekend and will only have 1 day to enjoy the Fall Foliage.  Recommendations for a drive to take the OLD folks on. See More

AWashington, DC: Co-working spaces or wifi in DC?

There are Starbucks and other cafes/etc on most every corner with free wifi.  Also, I think the entire Mall (the outside from the Lincoln Memorial to the Capitol) now has free wifi.  There are benches in the shade but if you're going in the summer, might still... See More

QSan Francisco: What would you do if you only had 1 or 2 days in this amazing city and you've already been to Alcatraz and Fisherman's Wharf?

Date weekend with Hubby, using only public transportation, prefer FREE or very inexpensive attractions, nature, gardens and architecture, BEST photography spots. See More

AWashington, DC: Day trips from D.C.

Great answers and suggestions so far.  Totally agree with every one that Tiffany mentioned.  I would add the United States National Arboretum to the list.  It is free and a beautfiul place to spend a couple hours.  August will... See More

ANew York City: If I have a car, what's the best way for me to see NYC? Should I park outside and bus in? Is there easy/reasonably priced parking inside the city?

Hi Tiffany! Just found you and hope this answer isn't too late to help.  I've driven to NYC a couple times and stayed outside the city and used public transportation to get in.   Staten Island Ferry is FREE and parking at... See More

AToronto: Cultural Attractions?

The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM)  is a MUST! I was just in Toronto for the first time last week and was able to visit a few key places while there.  The Bata Shoe Museum is just a couple blocks from the ROM and also a great one to... See More

AVancouver: Things to do in Vancouver

Keith- I'm not sure where you are coming to Vancouver from but you definitely do NOT need a car there.  I read that the cost of parking and traffic make it a nightmare to drive.  The public transportation system is AWESOME and saves you not only money but... See More

AToronto: Walking tours in Toronto

I just came back from a week in Toronto and it was my first time there! It is a fabulous city that is perfect for walking.  I also like to walk and explore neighborhoods and the city on my own.  I stayed at The Clarence Park hostel and it was walking distance to... See More
