Soraya Darabi

New York City

About Me

Well, hello there. My name is Soraya and I am a life-long explorer.

Middle-Eastern and European by blood, American by nationality and Asian by the sheer percentage of food I consume, I like to think of myself as a citizen of the world. I've traveled to over 70 countries and want to see 99 more before I die.

As a kid, I used to dream of a) hosting a travel channel show or b) joining the ranks of National Geographic or c) magically morphing into Diane Sawyer.

These days, I'm living out a real dream as the co-founder of Zady, a content and commerce platform dedicated to sourcing the finest quality products from around-the-globe. I am also a proud advisor of this fine website.

So enough about me... let's swap notes!

I will be attending a wedding in Kaua'i in late April.  What side of the island should we stay on?  My family will be traveling with me and my mother has a bad knee.  We need great suggestions for outdoor activities the whole family can enjoy, bearing that in mind.... ... See More

ASydney: Mainstream attractions in Sydney -- not my choice ;)

Aussies know how to have fun better than almost anyone - and Bondi Beach is the physical representation of this.  I would start my day there, then spend the afternoon at the Sydney Opera House. It's ideal. See More

AMiami: Fun things to do on a five day girls trip to Miami

When are you going? Miami Beach is awesome. Art Basel (a great international art show in December) is when I head to there and a day of relaxation in the sun post gallery hopping is how I like to experience the beach. For shopping, go to Barneys.... See More

ALos Angeles: Best places for celebrity watching!

Chateau Marmont is a great place for ice tea and celebrity spotting! See More

ANew York City: Splurge-worthy conveniently-located hotel recommendation?

I swear Mandarin Oriental has the best spa and I concur with what Andrew said about it. The second best spa is at the Trump SoHo Hotel, but the service at The Mandarin is bar none. See More

ANew York City: Restaurants that are worth being gluttonous at

Debbie, have you ever been to Ippudo NY? The pork buns are amongst my favorite in the world! Seriously. Several people have mentioned Balthazar Restaurant which is the closest New York comes to a Parisian baguette or croissant.... See More

ASan Francisco: Must-try restaurants

I love Samovar Tea Lounge and Tartine Bakery & Cafe.  The Jasmine Lemonade at Somovar is wonderful and it's impossible to go to Tartine without leaving with the cookbook in hand. Must visits. See More
