About Me

"I don't believe people are looking for the meaning of life as much as they are looking for the experience of being alive." - Joseph Campbell

I've joked that travel is to me is like meth is to Walter White... it just makes me feel alive. Nothing makes me happier than waking up in a new city and spending the day learning its secrets.

I call San Francisco home, but I travel as much as my life (and budget) will allow. My most recent adventure took me on an incredible 500 mile walk through Northern Spain, on the Camino de Santiago, and I can't wait to see where life will take me next!

AVenice: Should we book hotels in Italy ahead of time?

It depends on when you are going. If you are going during high season, definitely book ahead. However, if it's low season than you are fine booking as you go. Even then, I would recommend possibly having some backup hotels booked just in case. Many Italian hotels and... See More

ABackpack for a Short Woman

I walked the Camino de Santiago last year so having a good fitting pack was super important, and since I'm on the petite side it took me quite awhile to find one! After trying out more than 50 packs (seriously!), I ultimately I went with a Deuter Womens ACT lite, and... See More

ATulum: Best boutique hotel in Tulum

My absolute favorite hotel in the entire world is Hotel Be Tulum - but it's pricey. When I was there a few years ago my room was around $250 a night, but we got a great deal through because they were still pretty new. I think it's more now,... See More

ALisbon: Best area/neighborhood to stay in Lisbon?

Hi Janine, I was in Lisbon for the first time this past fall and stayed in Baixa, and loved it. The location couldn't have been better for me… it was super central - right in the middle of the city and close to two central metro stops, but still... See More

ATulum: Best way to get from Cancun to Tulum - Places to stay in Tulum and Food

Hi Joe, Tulum is one of my favorite places in all of Mexico! It's truly a paradise. However, I do think that you may struggle staying within a $50/night budget, especially if you want to be beach front, as it is one of the pricier beach towns in Mexico. I had friends... See More

AUmbria: Good day trips in/around Umbria

I love Perugia. It's a beautiful city on top of a mountain, and the views are incredible. There are a few universities in it so you really get to experience what an Italian college town is like, which is fun. It's also renowned for its chocolate,... See More
