About Me

I travel for work and travel for fun.

When I travel for work it's all very last minute and often long haul. When I travel for fun, it's about the planning and making my money go further and tends to be short haul.

Sometimes I can be on the road for weeks at a time then go for 3 months where I never leave the house.

Mark's Activity

ALondon: Transfer from Heathrow to Paddington

The Heathrow express is the simplest and quickest option although it may not be the cheapest You could use the underground (Piccadilly Line - Blue) or bus and you would use an Oyster card for that. Yes you can buy them at the airport and I have actually seen quite a few... See More

ALondon: Late arrival

You don't say which terminal you will be arriving at. Terminal 5 has a Sofitel London Heathrowactually attached to it. Get off your plane, clear customs, go to bed. Great hotel but not cheap Terminal 4 has a Hilton London Heathrow Airport... See More

ALondon: How to get from Heathrow to Liverpool

Have you looked into flying from London to Liverpool? Sometimes if you are booking far enough in advance, the air fares for that trip can be cheaper than the train plus it will be quicker and less hassle. Worth investigating. See More

QMarrakech: Atlas Mountains Tour

Hi We are heading off to Marrakech in August and my wife would like to visit the Atlas mountains. I can see thousands of tours advertised online and on sites like Trip Advisor but can anybody personally recommend a tour provider that they have used in the past. ... See More

APrague: which is better Hotel:King Court or Grandior?

To go to Prague and then eat in your hotel would be a shame.  There are so many places to eat authentic Czech food in the city (and all other foods too) for not a lot of money. Eating in a hotel would see you paying inflated prices for not great food. See More

AEurope: Is it too much?

I would say no Can it be done? Yes  But you will always be traveling. Two days in each location sounds great but if your train/plane/bus arrives in the morning and the next one leaves the following evening you end up with less than 24 hours in the actual city and by... See More

APrague: Drinking

My favorite bar come restaurant on the whole planet is a 10 minute walk from the castle. Hunt down the Klášterní pivovar Strahov for amazing traditional food and beer brewed on the premises. As you enter the courtyard, look for a small door on... See More

ALondon: Heathrow terminal 2 to King's Cross

I have been from plane to Tarmac in Terminal 2 in less than 30 minutes. Likewise the worse I ever knew was an hour     London Underground (Piccadilly Line) will be a steady hours journey as there are lots of stops but even then you should make it for about 9:30 so time... See More

ALondon: Where should we stay with kids in London?

Don't make the mistake of staying anywhere near the airports. The transport links from the hotels out there into the city are slow slow slow and you will end up wishing you had stayed more central. Aim to find a hotel in Zone 1 or at a push Zone 2 on the London Underground... See More

ALondon: What is the cheapest and easiest way to travel between London and Stevenage

The easiest way is probably by train. There is a regular service from Stevenage to London (several trains per hour) with journey times ranging between 20 and 40 minutes. To get the best price on tickets, buy them online and in advance of the date of travel however the... See More
