My partner and I love to take a major vacation per year. We are both mid-fifties, in good shape and prefer tropical beach vacations, hiking or exploring cities. We are craft brew lovers so we seek out local/regional craft brew wherever we are on vacation. We are not afraid to go off the beaten path and try to balance new destinations with a good mix of "must see/do" with something that is more unique and not in tourist books. We prefer locally made purchases over "made in China" souvenir shops. We love to try new types of food, even something 'edgy'. Got something for us?! Let us know of anything that is odd, unique and lesser known!
Vienna: Grocery stores in Vienna
I know the grocery stores in Europe aren't like USA (big, large variety) but we will be in Vienna for the month of May 17 and would like to do a fair amount of cooking in the apartment we are staying at. We'd like to stock up with groceries for our stay. We will... See More
Austria: Best deal on SIM cards for month long Vienna visit
Would like to confirm that my find for HoT SIM card for Austria for 5.90 euros (1000 minutes/3Gb data) is a pretty good deal. We will take side trips to Prague and Budapest so the 9.90 euro for 200 units (minutes/text/mb data) is reasonable. We are staying 1 month in... See More
Cancun: Private cook in our Cancun condo possible?
Hi, we're looking for a local, reasonable, private chef/cook to prepare meals in our Cancun condo for about 6 days (dinners only). Does anyone know of a service like this? We prefer to find someone that can make regional, local foods, not extravagent and fancy, but... See More
What is your first action when plan a overseas trip?
For us, part of the trip is planning every detail. We loath travel agencies and tour groups. They usually have a financial motive on where they send you in many cases. We always base our trip dates around the best airfare (either through miles or purchase). Once we find... See More
Kona: Favorite snuba and snorkeling spots near Kona?
We will be staying in Kona for the month of June 2016. We regularly visit the islands but haven't so much for the Big Island, that's why we're staying a month in Kona. I'd like to snuba 1 or 2 times and would like to snorkel multiple times. I prefer... See More
Spain: Best pre-paid SIM card choices for Android phone in Spain/Portugal?
We'll be in Spain & Portugal (mostly Spain) for 3 weeks in May and would like to buy a pre-paid SIM card for voice and data. We looked at Vodafone's site and what we could read in English sounded decent but we're looking for better than 60 minutes call... See More
Barcelona: Suggested itinerary for 3.5 days for active 50 year olds in Barcelona
Arriving May 6, leaving for Madrid May 9th. Two active 55 year old males with strong desire to see the two most recommended museums, 1-2 views of the city from a vantage point, terribly fond of craft/local beer, not afraid of public transport, would enjoy one or two very... See More
Maui: What are the best snorkel spots on Maui?
I've snorkeled to various places around Maui and while I personally like Black Rock(Kaanapali) my absolute best experience was to try snuba on my last trip. We've used Trilogy tours in the past for sails to Lanai island but never used them... See More
In my books Chuy's (Chuy's Restaurant, Chuy's, Chuy's) rates as the best TexMex around in these parts. They have several locations, all a bit funky and their swirl margaritas really hit the... See More
Spain: Possible to satisfy craft brew cravings in a wine country?
My partner and I are traveling to Spain next May and while we will occasionally drink wine with a dinner, our true love is local or regional craft (or local brewed) beer. Our main travels will be Barcelona, Madrid and an undetermined place in the south of Spain. We... See More
