Tips and reviews

Here's what Trippy members say about Lake Constance:

"Ireland is a pretty safe country for solo travel, the scenery is lovely and there are some very memorable cycle routes, especially in Wicklow Mayo and Kerry I also love the area around Lake Constance - start at the German side and cycle into Switzerland and Austria"  See More

"Barcelona is worth another 3-4 days, Munich is nice and there are wonderful places to drive in Bavaria towards Lake Constance so, if you plan on seeing a bit of the Bavarian countryside you could allow 3-4 days there."  See More

"I also love the area around Lake Constance (Europe's third largest lake) which criss-crosses three countries: Austria Germany and Switzerland You can cycle around the lake to the lovely little towns, hike the lower slopes of the Swiss Alps, visit medieval castles and vineyards and generally chill out while being active."  See More

"If you go to southern Germany: MunichBavaria areas you could cross into Switzerland by Lake Constance and also include Northern Italy which borders Switzerland If your budget stretches you could use a low cost airline like Ryanair or German Wings to fly between cities like Berlin and Prague thus saving you some time."  See More

"Basel-Stadt, Zurich, Lake Constance/or through the alps - as I like the mountains that would be my plan."  See More

"If you want (almost) guaranteed sunshine and outdoor activities take a look at northern Italy near the Swiss border, in the northern part of Comer See or Lake Constance both beautiful areas with lots of culture nearby and outdoor activity."  See More

"Here's what I would do, based on your interests: Copenhagen to Berlin on to Munich (you'll see part of the Black forest region) travel to Friedrichshafen Bodensee then across Lake Constance into Switzerland - for a couple of days of good hiking - or cycle around the lake on marked routes, then down through Lake Como into Northern Italy It'll be a lovely time to visit Venice and you might catch a late-season opera in Verona before you travel down to the beaches of Liguria for a night or two and visit Cinqueterre for a little more hiking or take a boat out to Portofino Lake Constance"  See More

"If not I suggest taking a train to Friedrichshafen Bodensee and crossing Lake Constance to the capital of the lake: Konstanz which is on the Swiss border."  See More

"Inland Europe will be very warm in August and Switzerland can be pretty expensive, so here's an idea: Lake Constance is shared by three countries: Germany, Austria and Switzerland."  See More

"Hi Emilie, i checked on the map for the routes, and probably car and train will be very smiliar, because I dont know what kind of transportation you will use. Anyway, you could stop by in Stuttgart. Beautiful city on the Neckar. Lots of hiking possibilities and places to hang out (cafes, restaurants, parks). Vistit the Fernsehturm Stuttgart to get a great overview of the city. Stuttgart is also the home of Mercedes Benz. They have one of the best company/car museums I ever have experienced. Mercedes-Benz Museum. It's not only about the manufacturer, it also tells a lot of history of germany. Since you are planing to go to Munich you will have lots of things to see and to do. Munich is great especially in the summer time. There are a lot of parks to hang out or if you want to go to swim, I would recommend you Lake Starnberg or Ammersee. Munich is home of BMW and you can visit the BMW Welt. Admission is free, only the museum costs a bit to visit or the factory tour. I guess your boyfriend will like it ;) If you can go to Neuschwanstein Castle. The fairytale castle itself :) ."  See More

"Biggest lake in germany: Lake Constance with an amazing waterfall Rhine Falls"  See More

"Also Lake Constance is a beautiful area, here you should visit Lindau or in Swiss see the Rhine Falls a big huge waterfall of the Rhine river."  See More

"Hi Emily, Germany is a beautiful country and most germans travel abroad and don't even know how beautiful their own home is. Munich is defnitely worth a visit. If you love cars you should check out the BMW Welt home of the BMW. Admission is free, but you have to pay if you want to take the factory tour. ."  See More

"We also enjoyed the village of Fussen even though it is the gateway to Neuschwanstein Castle and we stayed 2 nights and could have stayed much longer in Lindau, which was right on the Lake Constance."  See More

"I also really enjoyed Lindau along Lake Constance."  See More

"Lindau is a beautiful town on Lake Constance which borders Germany, Austria and Switzerland."  See More

"You could also head over to Lindau on Lake Constance, also known as Bodensee, which is a nice area."  See More
