Here's what Trippy members say about Imperial Beach:
"Imperial Beach is finally gaining sand. Nestled between the SEAL/ODT base to the north and the Naval Outlying Field to the south, its really been the jewel in the rough' for over many decades. Imperial Beach has been host to many big wave surfers over the years, yearning to learn big wave techniques before going to Hawaii. I.B.has many good breaks to learn on and if you want faster, bigger waves just travel south a bit to the end of Seacoast and walk south 1/2 mile. Winter swells prevail here with 2 to 3 times overhead. Over the years a few restaurants have started to make their name in the local dialect. The I.B. Forum has really taken off from the local dive bar and made headway into good service, food, drink in the last 5 years. Coronado Brewery, known for it's great brewing, started a walk up and order diner a few years back, and it serves many dishes that can be highly recommended. Recently, Mike Hess opened a brewery in Imperial Beach and serves street style TJ vending, (ie..tacos), with great beer styles as well." -slough
