Plan your trip to Cairns. Start by getting to the destination from your hometown. Then figure out where to stay (like Holiday Inn Cairns), find things to see and do (like Tusa Dive), and research places to eat (like Ochre Restaurant).

Here's what Trippy members say about Cairns:
"City centre is a travellers haven, there's a multitude of day trip operators that allow you to book everything you can think of doing in the tropics with the great barrier reef at your fingertips. Fave backpackers is Gilligan's, great pricing, bar, nightclub and swimming pool all inclusive. Rooms are clean and can book anything from a single room, double to a large down room. Male, female and mixed dorms available too. I've lived in Cairns and now go back at least once a year. I usually fly, this time I'm solo road tripping from Brisbane to Cairns."
