"Jackson has some great museums, Mississippi Civil Rights Museum and Museum of Mississippi History. They are located next to each other and called "The Two Museums". The Governor's Mansion is open to the public and has comprehensive tours. The Mississippi State Capitol is open to the public with self guided tours or docent led tours. Self guided tours are also available at the Old Capitol Museum. The Mississippi Museum of Art has wonderful local art... and periodic art exhibits from other museums. The Eudora Welty House and Garden (Mississippi author) is opened for docent led tours. There is the Mississippi Children's Museum and the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science. Nice places to eat and stay... Vicksburg National Military Park is about 45 minutes away."
