Trippy is a question and answer travel website for travelers to help each other travel better. Trippy is the place to get the best, most personal and useful answers to your travel questions.

Who uses Trippy?

Anyone who travels, period. Whether you travel year round for a living, or are an occasional traveler or avid staycationer, there's a place here for you.

How do I sign up for Trippy?

Go to and click the button to "Sign up with Facebook". Follow the next steps to fill out your profile, verify your email, and you're all set!

Note: Your homepage is tailored by the places you follow, so be sure to follow some of your favorite places -- whether they're places you know well or places on you want to visit -- to get the most out of your Trippy experience.

Can I create a brand or business account on Trippy?

Since we're a community of real people helping each other travel better, we do not allow brand accounts. For those in the travel industry, we ask that you create an account with your real name and real photo. Then, in your profile, you can mention your company and include a link to your site. Please do not link to your company or blog when you post questions or answers.

Trippy is meant for travelers to help each other, so moderators may edit or delete promotional messages and business accounts may be deactivated at any time. The best way to use the site is to list your information on your profile page, then provide helpful answers to members who will check out your profile. We've found that to be more effective than promoting directly to users. By writing real answers, you'll become known as a local expert and people will naturally find you.

Are posts moderated on Trippy?

Yes, all posts are reviewed. New members and new posts in particular are subject to restrictions, and the system may automatically remove anything it detects as spam, backlinks created for SEO purposes, promotion of business or services, or anything with commercial intent. If you are a new member, make sure you post real answers and use the "@" symbol to tag places in your answers so they appear on the map.

How are the questions and answers in my feed chosen?

The questions and answers that appear in your personalized feed are determined by the places you are following, so be sure to follow all of the places that you know, as well as the ones you'd like to visit.

If you follow a city, you will see all the questions and answers about that city in your feed; if you follow a country, you will see all the questions and answers about that country, as well as the ones of the cities within that country. For example, if you follow Paris, you will see all questions and answers about Paris; if you follow France you will see all questions and answers about France, as well as Paris, Nice, Marseilles, etc, whether or not you are following those cities individually. We highly recommend that you follow countries to get the most out of your Trippy experience!


How do I update my profile?

To update your profile, log in and go to your profile page, which can be found by clicking on your profile photo at the header of any page. Once there, you can click on the "edit" links and update your profile.

What makes a great profile?

Your profile is where the Trippy community gets to know you, so be sure to make it shine!

How do I change my profile photo?

To edit your profile page, go to your profile, which can be found by clicking on your profile photo at the header of any page. Once there, click on the "Edit" button next to your profile photo, click the "Edit Profile Photo" button and select a photo from there. We look forward to seeing your new glamour shot!

How do I verify my email?

When you sign up for an account on Trippy, you will be sent an email with a link to verify your account. If you don't see it in your inbox, try checking your spam folder and make sure that is added to your safe list. If you still haven't received the email, please send us a message about it.

If you missed the boat on verifying your email address when you signed up, never fear -- simply log in, go to your profile page and click on "Verify Email". You will be sent an email with a link to verify your account.

How do I update my email address?

To update your email address, hover over your profile photo on the top right corner of any page and click on Settings in the drop down menu. Once on your Settings page, click on edit in the Email section.

How do I update my email notifications?

To update your email notifications, go to your settings page, which can be accessed by hovering over your profile photo at the top right corner of any page and clicking on "Settings" when the drop down menu appears. On your settings page, you'll be able to check or uncheck what activities you'd like to receive email notifications about, as well as how often you'd like to receive those email notifications. You can also unsubscribe from any emails here.

How is my custom URL created?

Your custom URL is created based on your first and last name.

How do I deactivate my account?

We're sorry to see you go! To deactivate your account, hover over your profile photo at the top right corner of any page and click on "Settings" when the drop down menu appears. On your settings page, click on "Deactivate my account".

How do I ask a question?

To ask a question, click on the orange "Ask a Question" link at the top of any page. See below FAQ to learn what makes a question great!

Great questions lead to great answers, so when you ask a question, make sure to keep these tips in mind:

How do I get my questions answered?

Posting a question using the above criteria for a great question is a good start! Filling out the right location(s) will ensure that folks who know those locations see your question. Having a succinct headline and relevant additional details will also help you get better answers.

To put your questions in front of even more people, be sure to share your question with your networks on Facebook, Twitter, etc!


How do I answer a question?

To answer a question, click on the blue "Answer Question" buttons and links that appear across the site.

How do I ask for clarification or for more details when answering a question?

The best way to ask for clarification on a question is clicking on the "Add comment" link right underneath the question and asking there. Avoid posting a new answer just to ask for clarification.

How do I geo-tag places in my answer?

You can geo-tag places in your answer by simply typing the @-symbol followed by the name of the place. A drop down menu will appear with suggestions and you can select the correct place to appear in a map with your answer.

If the place I want to geo-tag is not in Trippy's database, how do I add it?

If the place that you want to refer to does not appear in the drop down menu when you try to geo-tag it, click on the link that appears that reads "Add [xyz] as a new place!" and a Trippy team member will update it shortly.

Can I add the information to a new place by myself?

The quick answer is: no, not at the moment, however, the Trippy team is currently testing out a tool that helps us pull in place information automagically. In the meantime, just keep adding new places as mentioned above, and someone from the Trippy team will update the location shortly.

We (and the rest of the Trippy community) really appreciate it when new places are added as you're helping our database of places grow, so thank you!

Can I add photos to my answer?

Yes -- you can add photos to your answers to really make them pop! When you geo-tag a place in your answer (as mentioned in the above FAQ), you'll see a box pop up below your answer. With many places, there will be photos already uploaded of the place ready for you to add to your answer. You can hover over the images for a larger preview to help you decide which to add. Once you've decided, simply click on the thumbnail and it will be added to your answer.

If you don't see any photos that you like, want to upload your own photos, or there aren't any photos available, simply click on "+ add your own photo". A new layer will appear and give you the option to do a web search for a new photo, connect to your Facebook or Instagram to pull in your own photo, or you can also upload your own photo from your computer.

If you upload an image that you've found elsewhere on the web, be sure to click on the "Advanced" link and paste the source link to give credit where it's due.

Can I link to my business or blog in my answer?

We have found that other members respond better if you simply write great answers. People will notice the quality of your answers and check out your profile. You can link to your business or blog from your profile page, but please do not link to your business within answers.
