Tips and reviews

Here's what Trippy members say about Getty Villa:

"I would go to Getty Villa (you must reserve in advance)."  See More

"The Getty Center, Getty Villa- both free (need to pay for parking) and beautiful architecture and artwork."  See More

"Drive a little further north and tour the Getty Villa."  See More

"Some highlights in and around LA are The Grove and Farmers MarketLACMARunyon Canyon ParkGetty VillaMulholland Drive3rd Street PromenadeSanta Monica PierVenice Beach and BoardwalkMalibuZuma BeachMarina Del Rey, theme parks (Disneyland ParkUniversal Studios HollywoodSix Flags Magic Mountain)."  See More

"Check out Getty Museum, Getty Villa, Venice Beach and Boardwalk, Griffith Observatory, Universal City Walk, Runyon Canyon Park, Hollywood Walk of fame, Mann's Chinese Theater, etc."  See More

"Hi, I would have to agree with Evi's suggestions! There are some that may overlap so bear with me: Venice Beach and Boardwalk- fun place to walk around and see the street performers and local vendors, muscle beach is there as well and sometimes they have entertaining competitions and such. This is definitely a day thing. Third Street Promenade - this is more of an evening thing if you want to see the street performers and get some shopping done along the way. It's a great place to people watch an walk around. The Grove While the selection of shopping isn't my favorite (which is good since you aren't looking to spend money), this is a fun place to people watch as well, you can pick a bench and grab an ice cream, participate in a free yoga class (or whatever is the class of the day - on the center lawn), you can hop on the trolley and ride to the other side of the mall to go to the Farmers Market which I'm sure will keep you entertained for a while. They have all kinds of food and things for sale. Hike any of the Hollywood HillsRunyon Canyon Park gives you a great view. The Griffith Observatory is a great place to see the city, you can walk around for free and take in the city, parking is also free! Taking a drive down Mulholland Drive offers free views of the city and a great drive. You can get tickets to see live tapings of your favorite shows. You can check out my answer to another Trippy member for details on how to order these tickets: "  See More

"Another great spot is the Getty Villa, which is the original location of the Getty Museum and has gorgeous permanent collections and gardens to stroll through (heads up: parking is not free on site)."  See More

"The Getty Villa offers great views and areas to sit outside."  See More

"I would rent a car and hang out in Malibu Beach for an entire day (horrible traffic hours going to/from Malibu on a weekend are 11am-8pm), you can go to the Getty Villa, eat at the many restaurants on PCH (Malibu Farm Cafe, Malibu Seafood is great), shop at the Malibu Country Mart."  See More

"We recently published a post about top 10 things to do in Los Angeles and the surrounding area, including the Universal Studios Hollywood, the Griffith Observatory, the Getty Villa, the The Getty Center, with addresses, the best beaches and insider tips about where to shop and hike."  See More

"Nearby, the gorgeous Getty Villa may also be available for private events."  See More

"If you are in Santa Monica, I would recommend you to check out the Getty Villa, which is not far from there and its pretty cool."  See More

"Getty Villa and you have a great view from the Getty Museum"  See More

"The Getty Villa is free (although parking is not) and they have great exhibitions."  See More

"I always take my out of town visitors to the The Getty Center, which is always a hit, and if you have time, the Getty Villa - parking is free at the other Getty when you visit both on the same day, followed by a short drive down Pacific Coast Highway to Santa Monica to watch the sunset along Ocean Ave."  See More

"Los Angeles Convention Center, Los Angeles City Hall and Getty Villa, are my favourite spots."  See More

"I also suggest checking out places like the Getty Villa in Malibu and just walking around Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills - their stores are EXTREMELY expensive but it never hurts to look and take awesome photos!"  See More

"The Getty Center and/or the Getty Villa"  See More

"The Getty Center and Getty Villa Both are free but you pay $15 for parking."  See More

"Get out of the beach area and go visit the Getty Villa in Malibu Beach or the Getty Museum."  See More

"If you are an art buff, I would highly recommend both the Getty Villa (you have to make reservations) of the Getty Museum."  See More

"LA has great museums; must visits include The Getty Center and Getty Villa in Malibu; LACMA in mid city; MOCA for contemporary art; further afield you have Norton Simon Museum in Pasadena."  See More

"Getty Villa - While in Malibu check out the Getty Villa."  See More
