Samobor  (2 Answers)

Dear VTers
Am planning a trip to Croatia next June. Read that we could travel from Slovenia to Samobor directly - is that advisable (if so, any websites I could refer to?) or should I just go to Zagreb first, then bus to Samobor?
Thanks

Best Way to Travel to and from Zagreb to Medugorje  (1 Answer)

I and a friend are traveling to and from Zagreb to Medugorje in May 2012. If we go by bus which route is fastest? Zagreb-Split-Medugorje? Or can I go straight through Bosnia-Herzogovina? How would I go by train if possible? And is it best to go by air? Thanks!

BUS from Zagreb to Budapest  (1 Answer)

Hi,

I would like to travel on a bus from Zagreb to Budapest on 4th June 2012. I have read that there are buses departing from Zagreb that go to Budapest and will take a much faster time than the train. I looked up the website to look for bus schedules, but there don't seem to be a search result. I do not know why even though Budapest is listed as one of the arrival points.

Has anyone taken such buses before? Do they really exist?

Are there overnight buses that I can take from Zagreb to Budapest? Do you know how much they will cost?

Thank you...

URGENT VISA HELP !  (3 Answers)

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone can help me.

I have a client who did not allow himself enough time to apply for a Schengen Visa for his onward travel after his visit to Croatia.

He is arriving in Zagreb, and spending two weeks in Croatia.

Does anyone know if the German Embassy in Zagreb would assist a South African Passport holder in obtaining a Schengen Visa on such short notice ?

I'm planning a trip to Zagreb with a friend in January. We would like to visit a small village about 30 miles northeaast of Zagreb to do some genealogical research. Can you suggest what we might do about transportation from Zagreb and also what to do in terms of communicating with the inhabitants. Neither of us speaks Croatian. We only speak English.

Day Trips Zagreb  (2 Answers)

I have 3 full days and nights in Zagreb and would like to spend one day exploring the town. For the other two days, do you think visiting Samobor, Plitvice,

Trakoscan can be done by bus? (I won't have a car.) Is this too much for 2 days -- maybe Samobor and Trakoscan in one day? Or are there better ideas for day trips? Any suggestions would be great.
thanks, j

Train from Zagreb to Ljubljana and onwards to Kranjska Gora  (1 Answer)

On the 22 September my daughter and I need to catch a train from Zagreb to Ljubljana and then travel onwards to Kranjska Gora where we have accommodation already booked for that evening. At approximately what time would we need to catch a train from Zagreb to link up with a bus at Ljubljana to travel to Kranjska Gora and do we need to reserve train tickets in advance and if so do we just reserve at the train station or can they be purchased elsewhere?
I know this sounds complicated but I am worried about making connections.

Recommendations of what to see in and around Zagreb  (8 Answers)

I will be flying in and out of Zagreb this September. I'm planning on spending some time in Zagreb, flying down to Dubrovnik, and at some point, possibly taking a bus into Slovenia, visiting Lubjiana and Bled. What other locations would you recommend visiting in between those areas, keeping in mind I only have about two weeks. Thanks!

Varazdin, Trakoscan and Veliki Tabor from Zagreb  (5 Answers)

Hi,

I have been spending hours and hours researching visiting the above sites. We do not have a car. I was hoping to hire a driver to take us to all three places in one day, thinking that it would save time. When I contacted an agency, the quote I was given was truly outlandish. (I have hired drivers before.) We could take a public bus to Varazdin in the morning and spend some time there on our own and then return by bus to Zagreb. If that be the case, I was hoping to find public transportation the next day to both castles from Zagreb, but I am unable to find it. I cannot imagine there would be public transportation from Varazdin to Trakoscan and return to Varazdin and then take a bus to Zagreb. I was even thinking of taking public transportation to Varazdin and then a taxi to Trakoscan and Veliki Tabor and have the driver drive us to Zagreb. (That, too, would probably be very expensive.) I cannot find a tour of both castles in one day for a Friday or Saturday in May, 2008.

As an aside, I tried to check the bus schedules, and the following appeared: "This message from server cannot be parsed." I do not know what that means. Can anyone help me with the bus schedules, also?

Is there anyone on this Forum who is able to solve this problem for us? Or, does anyone know of an English-speaking driver who charges a realistic price for such a trip?

Any and all help/suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Cheap accomodation in Zagreb  (2 Answers)

Hello,

I would need urgent help, I so hope that somebody from here can help us...
We had a group reservation in a youth-hostel in Zagreb.. We already booked that in October. Yesterday the hostel canceled the reservation due to reconstruction work. So now we don't have accomodation - and we have to go with our group in the middle of January! I tried so many hostels but we haven't got too much money... Do you have ideas where we could try to find hostels there?
And important to be close to the center, or be on tramline....
Does anybody know any student dormitory there? Email address or telephone number?
Thank you in advance for all the replies I will get...

some info need  (2 Answers)

Hi,

We are planning to be in Zagreb from 31st December to 4th January, and we are searching cheap but good hotels. What do you think about Hotel Jadran, it looks close to center but are there any cheaper hotels around center? Also how are the new year's eve parties at Zagreb. Would you recommend any good place for that night?
Thanks...

Munich to Zagreb in January  (1 Answer)

Greetings,

I will be flying into Munich,Germany Jan. 10,2007. My final destination is Zagreb. I have no set time schedule and wondered if there was an express train or bus that goes from Munich to Zagreb. If so, estimated costs would be great to have.

If winter airfares from Munich are cheap then I would like to consider that also.

Thanks.

Dinamo v Hajduk  (3 Answers)

Hi,

I am coming to Zagreb in February and hope to watch the Dinamo v Hajduk game. While I know most domestic league games do not attract large crowds (i have seen a couple before) will it be difficult to get tickets for this game? Can I buy these over the internet or would I have to try my luck when I get over there.

Hope you can help.
Cheers
Olly

Zagreb to Seaside for Day Trip by Car  (2 Answers)

Hi,

We are travelling to Zagreb for a weekend during July. We would love to see the coast whilst in Croatia but due to limited time won;t be able to make it down to Split or Dubrovnic.

What is the nicest part on the Northern Coast that we could drive to for a day trip?

How long would it take?

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Cat
