I'm planning 2 treks this summer - July / August. The first ends in Yakutsk and second begins in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. I have 2 weeks to make the trip and would like to use ground transportation. What is available?
I plan to take Trans Siberian Train this August or September from Moscow to Vladivostok.
However, I want to get off at Irkutsk and visit Yakutsk for few days. I need the airplane tariff for Irkutsk-Yakutsk-Irkutsk or Irkutsk-Yakutsk-Vladivostok.
Can anyone help?
There's a passenger train from Novosibirsk to Neryungri via Irkustk (no 78) every other day ... but does anyone know if this is met by a bus to Yakutsk? ... and how much this is likely to cost? LP says "twice a week" - is this still current, and anyone know which days?
I'm considering a visit to Yakutsk, Russia to see what it's like. I know it can be warm in summers(average high 75 degrees F), but I'm wondering how warm. How often does it get above 80 degrees F in the summer? Can it get warm enough to swim in the river? Is it safe to swim in the Lena River? I've heard it can get above 90. How often does this occur?
