I with honey plan to have a trip to Shanghai, China, and this is my first time to China. to make the travel better, I have booked the transfer service from pudong airport to Marriot Courteyard Shanghai, and also booked the cruise sightseeing tickets. Mildchina.com helps us do that, and it seems good. My honey wants to have a further tour to Tibet, and I would like to continue the service of Mild China, and want them to arrange the whole trip to us. But, I do not know whether they are specialized in this or not. Does anybody else have tried their service to Tibet, how is it? share with us please. Thanks so much...

I found a grave marker for someone that said he was born in Solo N.O.I. The only thing I come up with for that abbreviation is Nation of Islam. I found a couple of places named Solo in Indonesia, and Africa. But Indonesia is the Republic of Indonesia and not the Nation of Indonesia. So I am stumped. Where is Solo N.O.I.?
I have decided to backpack through South East Asia later on this year, and I am first travelling to Koh Tao for approx. 3 months to complete my diving certificates. There are a few things I am a little unsure about. If anyone could help me in answering even one or more of these questions I would greatly appreciate it.
1. What is long term accommodation like there?. I have read things about finding apartment like places where you pay a monthly rent. Are these places hard to find? I am doing my dive certificates through New Heaven Dive School so I will be in the southern part of Koh Tao. If i rent an apartment as such, will I need my own furniture and appliances? Does hotels/resorts offer long term accommodation?
2. Money. How much roughly would I need for living in Koh Tao for 3 months? Also should I keep the money in my bank account or will I have to withdraw it from the mainland before heading over? I guess this is a question that applies to all of my travels through South East Asia. I will be heading from Australia so obviously my money will be in AUD, Should i change it to USD? And should I keep my money on me or in a bank account? I will be travelling through South East Asia for 11 months (Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Indonesia).
3. Transportation. I am hoping to avoid a motor cycle, Im leaning more towards buying a bicycle. Is this a wise option in Koh Tao? Should I buy one on the mainland or will there be somewhere to buy a bicycle in Koh Tao and if i buy one on the mainland will it be possible for me to take it over to Koh Tao.
South East Asia
My travel plan is looking something like this...
Thailand (Koh Tao) 3 months
Cambodia - 1 month
Northern Vietnam - 1 month
Laos - 1 month
Cambodia (volunteer) - 1 month
Southern Vietnam (volunteer) - 2 months
Bali/Indonesia - 1-2 months
So I am planning on paying for my flight to Thailand and flight home in advance. My volunteer work fees will be also paid for in advance. I am hoping to take over $15,000 for the total time. This will include travel costs between each country, accommodation, food, and spending money (diving certificates). I am not phased in the accommodation side of things, staying in a backpackers will be fine with me. I am more than happy to eat street food. There are a couple of things that I would like to do in each country e.g do a dive in Cambodia or go to the gillie islands in Indo that may take me a bit over my weekly budget as such. However do you guys think that fifteen thousand will be enough?.
Here are a few other queries of mine. If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated...
1. What is the best way to access my money?. I will be coming from Australia and have a VISA debit card. Should I be looking at taking it all out before I go? should I change it to USD? Should I just take it out here and there when I can in the bigger cities and then when I go somewhere rural should I just take cash with me?
2. Taking particular items. I really want to take my macbook as I want to document everything. I will also be looking at taking my gopro, camera and iphone. Is this a bad idea? Should I just not necessarily sort of flash them around in public (in particular my macbook)?
3. The time that I have allocated for each country, will it be enough?
4. Are there any hidden secrets in any of these countries that anyone recommends me seeing?
5. Is it best to travel by land or air from country to country.? Obviously by land will be cheaper, however I have heard that some of the border crossings are difficult.
6. I have also heard that you need to organise your VISA before heading into Vietnam. Is this difficult to do without a travel agent?
These are all my questions as of now. If anyone could help me or offer some advice it would be greatly appreciated!
Could you please recommend a lake to go to in one of three continents mentioned in the post title?
My mother is asking me for such information and I have never really traveled lakes so would appreciate a piece of advice.
The only important detail: the lake would have to be safe to stay at, healthy to bath in and comfortable for 60+ traveler for approx one month stay.
I am researching for a 2014 trip to either one of these 2 countries. I am a nature lover and a bird watcher. Originally was eyeing the lodges in the Amazon Basin in either Ecuador or Peru. But as I am a single, costs are quite expensive.
So I shifted my attention to mainly Ecuador to visit the Cloud Forests which are easy to reach from the capital of Quito.
Then I was looking at Costa Rica as there I can do the rain forests for a fraction of the cost and whereas the birds are main attraction in Ecuador, especially a target species such as the Cock of the Rock, in Costa Rica, you have the whole gamut of life found in tropical rain forest, including primates.
The other issue in Ecuador is the altitude of Quito and chances of Altitude Sickness.
Thus, which shall it be? All feedback is accepted. But final decision wil of course fall upon yours truly.
We have planned the following Itinerary to South Africa, please let me know if this is workable or suggest a better one --
Day 1 -- land in Johannesburg and after a brief rest, take a city tour
Day 2 -- Drive to Kruger National Park
Day 3 -- Kruger National *(PLEASE SUGGEST IF WE SHOULD HAVE ONE ADDITIONAL DAY AT KNP)
Day 4 -- Take flight to Port Elizabeth (halt at PE)
Day 5 to day 14 -- Drive through the Garden route *(we hope to do some adventure sports along the way and make halts accordingly, any suggestions in this regard are welcome)
Day 15,16,17 -- Cape Town
Day 18 -- fly out of Cape Town
We can extend this if required by a few more days. If so where should we add? Besides this should we cover Durban too? If covering Durban then we could take a flight to Durban after KNP and then take another flight from there to PE and then drive to Cape Town from there through the garden route. Any other not to miss wildlife parks in any of these places?
Thank you for your time,
I am planning on cycle touring trip (mix of camping and hotels) for mid June. I have been hearing not all attractions/restaurants/etc are open then. Is that correct ? Also, any suggestions whether we head to West side or east? I know we can't do all. We plan on riding 5 or 6 days, 40-50 miles/day (to allow sightseeing). I have info on the Confederation Trail and we might use that for some riding but like the coastal areas.
We could go later in summer, my reasoning for June was to avoid some of the crowds and issues with trying to find accommodations.
We would be arriving via car and leaving car near Gateway village.
Any challenges with wind ? or possibly best bet for riding?
any feedback/suggestions would be appreciated! thanks
I am looking for some help with finding information on outdoor activity work abroad. I am a fully qualified Outdoor Education Instructor from Scotland and would love to be able to this work in some sun :) I would hugely appreciate if anyone has any tips or websites etc that I can use. I have been thinking of Hawaii, Caribbean, Southern Europe, New Zealand, Australia and possibly the USA. I know I have not really narrowed it down a huge amount, but any help would be great :)

Is it dangerous to drive after its gone dark from Amman to Petra?
Hope I am posting this in correct location. Husband, sons, 17 and 14, and myself flying to Vegas end March from East Coast. Have a tentative plan in my head, but am looking for ideas of how much time to allow at each location. Will not be a too physically active trip, as I am not much of a hiker, but do not want to confine rest of the family totally to the car. :) So far, here is my plan. Arrive Vegas, drive to Zion, am thinking of stopping in St. George or Valley of Fire. Our flight arrives in the a.m., but we will be tired early from such an early departure. Do have a reservation in Springdale for night 1. Day 2 explore Zion. Questioning here whether to stay in Springdale night 2 or leave for Bryce. Day 3 in Bryce. Could use some feedback on where to stay. Have a reservation Day 4 in Grand Canyon Park. Day 5 head back to Vegas with a stop at Hoover Dam. Spend 2 nights in Vegas, possibly a day trip to Death Valley. (Will be ready for some warm weather by then) thanks for your comments and suggestions. Am a little overwhelmed and need to get this planned as it will be near the Holidays and accomodations are getting tight.
What will be the weather at June?
Would like to know the bus schedule from railway station to Mont. st. michel?

I'm a 19 year old female planning to travel through south east Asia from march onward on a shoestring budget(hostels, home stays and public transport). However i'm not really sure where to start my planning as I don't know much about how to get around, what to see,or where to go.I'm traveling alone so I want to meet people along the way and let my hair down as well as indulging in the rich culture Asia has to offer.I'm hoping people who may have done something similar could give me some advice or share their experience with me so i can plan my itinerary realistically.Any advice for traveling in this region would be greatly appreciated also.
