Vilnius - Gruto parkas

Hi,

Is this Gruto parkas worth a visit or is it
just another tourist trap?
How do you get there by bus from Vilnius?
The Gruto parkas web site says something about
a half an hour's walk from Grutas bus stop - is
there no connection all the way to the park?

Cheers,
Martti

Grutas is a small village near the road Vilnius - Druskininkai, and the "park" is a land of a private homestead and is surrounded with large forests. So you have to walk from the bus stop (i.e. the main road) thru the village to this homestead.
It is a funny place, locals love to visit it too, it's not a trap.
There is a bus schedule at the Gruto parkas web site, it's correct. There is a timetable put up at the Vilnius bus station hall, it's on the left if you look at the ticket office. Look for the "Druskininkai" direction, the first number in the line is a platform's number. You can buy a ticket right in the bus. The bus must be Vilnius-Druskininkai, as there are the few other ones going same direction, but not directly.
It's also reasonable to go to Druskininkai, where you can rent a bike to cycle to Grutas (only in summer, 8 km), the nature around is great.
Generally it is worth a visit if the weather is good, if you want to see how the countryside looks like (i.e. on the way on and back thru the bus window) and if you want to spend some time in the open air. The air in those pine forests is fantastic, in case you're interested.
