Changing our destination  (5 Answers)

I have always dreamed of Venice; but I am re-considering this destination. Do you think that maybe I should look elsewhere, like Prague. It just seems like the island is so expensive, and hard for me to manuever my electric scooter. Could you, please, give me your opinion? Thank you so much.

3. What is the best and cheapest mode of transport?

Getting from Venice port to Montenegro port

WE are honemooning in Italy for a few days and would like to take it a little slower and cheaper by taking some days out in Montenegro. Can anyone help us to get from the closest port in or around venice to one of the ports in Montenegro.

Do we need to take connections or is there a direct route? Furthermore, if you could recommend a cheaper option in Italy with similar scenic offerings in Italy around, Tuscany, Venice etc (preferably with a bit of beach and/mountain) this will be greatly helpful/

Thanks

Treviso Airport-Venice  (5 Answers)

Hello
does anyone know what is the cheapest way to reach Venice from the airport in Treviso? My friends and I will arrive with Wizzair around 17:30 and their shuttle bus is more expensive than the plane tickets, so I would be very grateful if you know of a cheaper transport,
Thank you

Venice  (11 Answers)

Greetings all,

This is my first post on the VT site and it begins with a question...

My wife and I are planning a vacation to Venice next June and would like to get some input from more knowledgeable people out there in the VT universe. It seems that most people only spend a day or two in Venice and it just seems that it is just not long enough. We are planning on a spenmding a week there, will we get bored after a few days or is there enough sites and sounds to keep us occupied in the Venice and Veneto area? We will probably take a couple of day trips out to Verona and Lake Garda, but that begs the question, do we want to stay in one location for the week (Venice) and travel from there or stay in a few different hotels within the Veneto region?

If I sound a little scattered, I apologize but since we are in the early planning stage of this vacation, its better to be confused now instead of confused later...

Thanks in advance.

Good view point in the area?  (3 Answers)

Hello. in a few days Me and my brother will be in the area of Garda lake - Verona - Vicenza. We would like to find out if there is a good view point on the Dolomites. We arrive by car so we have the freedom of... having a car :).
We would like to find a nice place where we can have a view over the surroundings, what would be the best point, considering we don't want to waste too much fuel, because I evaluate such "trip" as only a couple of hours trip (unless there are other things we could do there, I'd love to hear some suggestions). (so don't send us far north because we intend to go back and sleep in Vicenza that night).
Anyway, any idea of where to go and what to do will be appreciated.
Thank you!

Trip to Northern Italy - advice needed!!  (19 Answers)

Dear esperti e specialisti in Italia :-),
We need your help!
Me, my husband and our son of 1,9 y.o. are travelling to North Italy this September. We travel with baby for the first time and it makes me feel very nervous and uncertain about the planning...
We arrive to Venice, stay there for 2 days and then move up to Dolomites. There we'll stay for 2 nights and drive down to the lake Garda where we'll base for a week. On the way from Venice to the Dolimites I thought to drop to Padova and Vicenza, stay for a night in Bassano del Grappa and continue to the Dolomites the next day.
On one hand I want to grasp as much as possible and on the other I do not want to load to much on our son. Is it in your opinion a must to make stops on the way to Dolomites or we can go straight there? If it is worthwhile what other sites along this route you would advise to visit? We are especially interested in authentic villages, castles etc.
Same type of question regarding the route from Dolomites to Sirmione. It's a 3,5 hours drive. So I reckoned, it's better to stay for a night somewhere on the way (probably in some Agricturismo - we all love nature and animals and also want the trip to be exciting and educational for our son) and make stops for sightseeing. What you would advise to see on the way from Dolomites to the northern point of the lake? (We will be able to explore the lake while staying in Sirmione). Thanks a lot in advance for any help, advice and information!!!

First night I like to have booked  (3 Answers)

I am looking at Altieri hotel in Favaro for the first night which looks very convenient to the airport and to Venice but thinking of 2 nights there before we head on up to Ljubljana to get our car. I would like to spend two nights in the same place since it is easy access to Venice but I would really like to stay on Lido one night. It just seems easier to stay in the same first place 2 nights. The main reason for the trip is Slovenia and flying out REALLY early so Lido is probably not an option on the flip side. Any opinions on this?

Daughter's 21st birthday celebration and day trips infos  (3 Answers)

My daughter and I are going (girl's trip) to Venice this August where she'll be celebrating her 21st birthday which is a big milestone for us Americans ... It's going to be fantastic for her to see the "real" Venice before partying it up with her buddies at the Venitian in Las Vegas ! I would like to know if anybody could recommend a nice restaurant to go to on that special day. Also, since we are staying 10 days in Venice, is it reasonable to plan a couple of day trips to Florence as well as Lake Garda (which seem farther than Verona or Padua)? I'm renting an apartment in Cannaregio and don't want to spend extra money for hotels in Florence or Sirmione. Thanks in advance for any recommendations ... we're counting the days to go Venice !

Pellestrina - walking the whole of the island  (9 Answers)

Hi, would anybody happen to know if it’s possible (I presume it is, just want to be sure…) to walk the whole of Pellestrina island, from the first traghetto stop coming in from Chioggia (Caroman), before the traghetto stops again at Santo Antonio or Cimitero, right up to the traghetto stop in the north of the island? I presume there are no natural barriers but it would be great if someone could confirm this (especially for the first part, the closest to Chioggia, which I can see is a very narrow strip of land and I don't want to fall off..).
Thanks!

HELP! Looking for best dance clubs (electronic/house) in the VENETO region for late September!  (2 Answers)

To all my VT members who like to go out dancing:

Can you recommend any cool dance clubs in the Veneto region for late September?

A bunch of us in our late 20s to early 30s love electronic dance music, house, disco and 80s mixes... but we know Venice itself does not have a lot going on.

Should we head to MESTRE instead? Verona?

If you could give us specific names of places, that would be great. CHEERS!

Where to park the car  (4 Answers)

Hello everybody,
My wife and I are going to spend 2 nights in Venice. We have booked a room on the island and we still wonder where to park our car for more than 48 hours.
Parking on the island is very expensive (30 euros a day). But will it be any cheaper if we leave the car on the mainland and go to the island by train or by boat? Are there guarded parkings (suitable for our case) on the mainland?
Thanks for your advice!

Tour guides and water taxi

I am a travel agent who vists Venice at least once a year and stay at Hotel ai Due Principi.

I frequently book clients who want a private tour as well as transportation from the airport or cruise port.

I prefer to use locals who are not part of a large company but who may just have some spare time and would like to earn some extra money.

Any suggestions?

Transport Question: Venice to Lucca with a day stop in Bolognana to visit Ferrera and Lambroghani  (2 Answers)

We will be starting our trip next July with a 3 day stay in Venice. Afterwards we will be traveling to Lucca. I have 3 boys that really want to stop and see the Ferrera and Lamborghini plants/ museums. I think both places are somewhere around the Bolognana area. Not sure if we can get to both but would like to do a couple of hour stop over to see either both or at least see Ferrera. We would than continue on our trip to our apartment rental in Lucca. Although I'd love to stay in Bolgnana that will have to wait for another time.

Need advice on the best way to travel this leg of the trip. Should we take a train from Venice to Bolognana and pick up a rental car and go to the automobile plants and continue on to Lucca via rental car? At some point, we are planning on having a rental car when we're in Lucca with a drop off at the end of our trip somewhere around Milan.

There will be 2 couples, not really interested in the night life. Any help you can give will be appreciated. Thanks!

Venice Mestre - Buses to Lido  (22 Answers)

Hi

We are travelling by train from Garda down to stay on the Lido for a few days in September. It seemed more logical to get the train to Mestre and then the bus out to Lido, rather than going into the centre of Venice, however, I am aware that there is no bus station as such in Mestre. Does anyone know where the bus stop for the No. 10a to Lido is in relation to the railway station?

Thanks
Karen

Various!  (8 Answers)

1. Is Venezia Mestre Venice station?!

2. Is it possible to buy a return ticket to go Bergamo-Garda (Peschiera) on one day, Peschiera-Venice another day and return Venice-Bergamo on a 3rd day? The Trenitalia website won't let me do it, but it seems illogical that I seem to be able to go Bergamo-Garda for €6, Garda-Venezia Mestre (is this Venice?) for €7.90, but that a return trip all the way through (changing at Brescia) is €27.80.

Confused!
