I am planning a trip around south america for next year and my itinerary is pery-bolivia-chile-argentina-brazil. I pretty much have all my itinerary planned from Peru to Bolivia but I am a bit stuck in getting from Salar de Uyuni to Santiago in Chile. Has anyone done this route before? Which means of transport are available? Which towns are worth visiting on the way down?
Any information would be greately appreciated!
Hi [VT member ae645],
I haven't done any of this yet but I'm planning on heading from San Pedro de Atacama in Chile to Uyuni in April. You can take one way tours which take 3 days (not sure if any are shorter). From the Uyuni side it's probably even easier to arrange.
From San Pedro you can bus easily to Calama about 40-50 miles away roughly I think. From Calama you can fly direct to Santiago.
Hope this is of some help.
I have done the trip 2 years ago fron san pedro to uyuni.
Try Colque Tours, sometimes the company has a bad reputation but I didn´t have any problems at all.
There is a bus service from San Pedro to santiago. Driving time about 22 hours.
