Home everyone I'm off to Uganda on Thursday. We will be mainly in Kampala and will spend a few days in Gulu. Back on Monday 12th so very short trip. Any tips for a first time visitor I am feeling rather anxious about the trip....
Thank you : )
Can anyone recommend safe bus company for this route ?
Hi I'm looking to go to Uganda in mid to late November 2016 for Gorilla and Chimpanzee trekking. I am traveling solo and I would appreciate any input. It looks like flying into Kigali in Rwanda is actually closer than Entebbe but all the tours seem to start from Entebbe and do the 8 - 10 hour drive, is the drive worth it? Are there any options? Is there anything else that should not be missed as long as I am in that part of the world? I have been to South Africa and Kruger Park. Thank you
In a few months I'll be going to Uganda for the very first time. I'll mostly be staying in Hoima, but will also travel to other cities such as Kampala and Entebbe. As I will be doing alot of shopping and cooking of my own, I was wondering what to expect finding in Ugandan grocery stores (and what not).
Hopefully someone is able to answer my question.
wondering what frequent travelers to Uganda think about traveling with the recent terrorist attacks in Somalia and Kenya and with the US Embassy sending alerts on March 25 of information that warns of potential attacks in Kampala. We have another mission trip planned this June to Kampala and I'm not feeling like it's safe right now, my group has mixed feelings, some want to go anyway and some feel it's not safe for westerners who are Christians to be traveling to Kampala...any thoughts?
I am avery confident traveller who has travelled through asia many times, just booked the flight,1st nights accomadation and go from there, however next year would llike to go out my comfort zone and go to africa, is it easy enough just book the 1st nights accomadation in uganda or Ethiopia then travel around on my own.
Hello. I would like to know the cheapest way to get to Lyantonde from Kampala and go back to Kampala the other day. I'm guessing that would be by bus so can anybody direct me to a website with timetables for Lyantonde because I couldn't find one, thanks in advance.
what is the price of a smart phone in Uganda
Two friends and I are planning a trekking tour in Uganda. To be more people, thus less money for the tour guide, we wonder whether there is any forum to find people planning a similar tour in Uganda at the same time. Do you know something like that?
Im going tu Uganda in two weeks. I would like to purchase hand made silver jewelry. Not from China . Any places I can go?
I am going to Uganda this Sat and I haven't got any vaccination. What should I do?
My daughter is in Africa working with the Peace Corps. She has some vacation time and would like to visit other places in Africa. I will be coming to Africa from the US to spend sometime with her during her vacation period. I am having trouble deciding on the best way to travel. I can rent a car both in Uganda and Tanzania or do we use a form of bus tranport. We will travel from Entebbe to Lake Mburo to Kisoro to Tanzania to Zanzibar to Dar se Salamm.
We can use the car for travel in Uganda then return it to Entebbe( fly from Entebbe to Dar se Salamm ) rent a car in Tanzania to travel to Serengeti then back to Dar se Salamm. Take ferry to Zanzibar.
If we travel 6 hours from Kisoro to Bukoba we can take a boat at night across Lake Victoria to the Serengeti area .....what kind of travel can we use from there. We have reservations at the Tanzanice Farm.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
We are a group of 6 Australians travelling to Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya and Tanzania in September 2014 - can someone advise the procedure of obtaining an East African Tourist Visa (the Visa that you can enter Uganda, Rwanda and Kenya on) on arrival at Entebbe Airport and how long do we expect to line up for it? Our flight arrives around 1.00pm on a Saturday.
Has anyone heard of a company called AA Adventures Ltd based in Uganda? I have had 3 quotes, all similar prices (which is expensive as a single traveller!), one from a company in Rwanda called Bizidanny tours, which somebody recommended, an English company called Rainbow Tours & AA Adventures. Part of me thinks it would be better to go with locals as the English company will have little control on what guides they use but worried I won't be covered by the others if anything goes wrong. Any thoughts or ideas appreciated!
Hello there, I will be volunteering in the Kigezi, Bwindi forest area of South West Uganda and I wondered if it is still safe to travel there? I am hearing conflicting reports.
It will be my first time in Africa.
Many thanks for any advice. Charlotte
I understand October and November are the 'short' rainy season. Does this mean that its likely to rain every day non-stop, or just for a few hours per day? My plan was to visit in late November and travel through Uganda,Rwanda and maybe Burundi overland. Is the weather likely to affect road travel between main towns at this time?
I'm having trouble to find the best way to get to the serengeti from Kamapala. I do know I don't want to pay $600/seat to take a plane! What are my other options? We are a family of 4, with two kids 9 & 11. How many days are needed to travel, enjoy, and return.
are they a prompt people, or laid back

I am living in America but need a home to rent in Uganda. I am looking for a home with at least 3 bedrooms and at least 2 bathrooms. It must be in a fairly safe area. I'm looking at somewhere between Kampala and Entebbe. I am looking to pay under $400 a month. It does not need to be fancy, obviously, but it does need to have water and electricity available. An alternative to this, which I would actually prefer, is to buy a home in the same area. I'm just not sure about how to go about getting a mortgage loan for there since I live in America. I'm looking to do this in the next month, so I need some help please. I've tried working with Ugandan real estate agents lately and am not getting anywhere very quickly, so I need yall's help!

Hi experts ;-) I'm planning a trip to the National Park from Kampala by public bus. I want to stay in the park, but for how many days? Is 4 nights OK to see the attractions ? (I have 3 weeks in Uganda) I'm a bit confused about the transportation in the park. Is it possible to stay there without a car ? Thank you! Best regards Jesper
We are planning a 9-days trip to Uganda (25 oct. to 03 nov.), we are a family of 2 adults and 2 kids (ages 9 & 7). We are thinking to spend three days at Murchison Falls park and then head for three days to a nice island in Lake Victoria to relax, before ending our trip in Kampala.
I would appreciate to receive ideas and suggestions on which island to select: we are interesting to beautiful beaches suitable for swiming, and something of good value for money.
Thanks in advance
I need some help for planning my 3 weeks next February please :-) I'm travelling alone and arrive late in the evening.
I’m used to travelling on my own, but have never been in Africa before. Will it be a good choice to start with 2 night at a guesthouse in Entebbe, and then go on an organised tour with for example Gorilla Tours. They have a ”Gorillas & Chimps” 5 days tour. And then after the tour travel on my own with public transport. Or do you experts have a better suggestion for a 3 weeks itinerary ? I guess the best way to go on a gorilla tracking tour is with a tour company, also for buying the permit ? Thank you. Best regards Jesper
I have seven days off work in early October and thought I'd use the time to visit and explore Uganda.
I know it's not a lot of time, so I'm asking for any highlights/recommendations/itinerary suggestions/routes that I can cover in this time. I'll be flying into Entebbe. My interests are varied (I'm a curious person!) - wildlife/nature, culture/anthropology/people, adventure, history. I don't mind roughing it.
Any ideas would be most welcome.
Again, there's nowhere obvious to post this, but given that it's a stonking USD150 saving on the usual permit rate (and I have no commerical interests whatsoever in this), I thought that I'd share the good news that Uganda Wildlife Authority is offering discount gorilla permits for the month of November 2013, at 'only' $350 USD (whilst permits last).
Hi! I have the chance to travel 3 weeks next february. It's my first trip to Africa. I want to visit Bwindi Impenetrable N.P., Murchison Falls....In 3 weeks, is it possible to go to Serengeti for maybe 3 days, or is 3 weeks in Uganda OK ? Thank you :-)
