Hey! I am travelling to the states in September and will be flying from NYC to Nashville around the 10th for a few days. The more research I have done about the area, the more I see there is to do outside of the honky tonks - The Smokey Mountains look incredible! How possible do you think it would be to venture out there without a car, on my own? I did look at some tours of the area but I couldn't seem to match any up to my time frame. Any advice on travel (reliability / safety) around that area would be much appreciated =)
We will be traveling from Nashville to Sevierville, TN and wondered what their is to see of do along that route? What is there that you would not miss seeing or doing?
I do not like to drive. Which one of these cities has shuttle services between the airport to the resorts? Is there public transportation between the airport and the resorts?

I am looking for a cabin rental for next year week of July 4th for at least a 5 bedroom cabin at least 5 bathrooms, something near a creek (preferably), game room for kids, and the theater room. Looking for something that is not too close to another cabin, dont mind seeing one down the road but dont want to be a couple of feet from each other. We will want to visit gatlinburg so something within an hour away.
I will be driving thru Tennessee and have stops in Nashville or Memphis. Which one of these cities should I stop and spend a night and tour the next morning? I want to have BBQ in Memphis and love listening to the blues, but in Nashville they have the Blue Bird Cafe where live music is a given. I have been to both and know they have so much to offer. I just can not decide.....anyone has a favorite and why?
cheers Tommy x

Was wondering if anyone might know when in June the rhodendrons are in full bloom? A friend of mine wants to make a trip there to Roan Mtn (apparently where they have the most rhodendrons, or at least where its a major attraction) in June but does not know when to book her flight to be sure she does not miss it. She will only be able to stay for a few days so she's trying to "time" it as close to full bloom as possible. Anyone know?
I'm the lucky one to plan a family reunion for about 50 people that we just decided to have in June of '11. Thinking Smoky Mountains will be good. People coming from FL/MO/KS. There are so many cabins out there for a group our size. I've been looking in the Gatlinburg area, but not sure it's the most convenient to major higways. Any suggestions for a specific area or specifc cabin/lodge facility? Any input would be greatly appreciated!!
Hello, I'd like to know when one would expect to see the fall colors in the eastern part of Tennessee?
I will be staying a week in Crossville (Fairfield Glade) (May 22-29) and while there as part of my quest to visit all 50 states I would also like to visit MO, AS and of course Memphis as well as other places in TN. Can I visit MO & AS in 1 day or should I plan on staying in Mephis or some where else 1 night? I will be traveling with my 19 year old son..so I would like to find places to go and things for do..and I have to have some good bbq...throw in a little history and this will be a trip to remember..
I am traveling to Memphis and Pigeon Forge at the end of May. What is the situation from the flooding? Is eveything returning back to normal or will there still be many problems/ Thanks!!!
I am traveling from Canada to Manchester,TN to go to the Bonnaroo Music Fest. I was just wondering the average cost of liquor in Tennessee, like how much a case of beer goes for, or how much a 60 oz (1.8) vodka goes for. Thanks in advance.
Many thanks for the suggestions on my Memphis V Nashville dilemma. I think Nashville wins! Anyways I will be there probably mid-week in august, will there be much going on in the bars, clubs and live music scene at this time or is mainly the weekends?
I have a flying visit to Tennessee in August and am undecided on which city to visit, Memphis or Nashville. I am neither a huge elvis, blues or country music fan but still want to see one of these places while i am in the US. Which one has the better nightlife and has more going on during the day? I have only two days.
Thanks for any suggestions
We are planning to make a short trip to the Smoky mountains. Actually we decided to stop there enroute. I know we probably need more time to see and experience this place, but can someone point us to what would be the TO-DO things, places a must see in a day's trip.
We will be there in the 1st week of Dec. Also tips on type of clothing and anything additional is greatly appreciated.
We will be traveling from the Chicago area to the southwestern side of the Smokies in late May and early June. We will be camping out. Since we've never been in the area before I would like to hear what we can expect in terms of weather, bugs how crowded it will be.
Our activities will be limited to hiking, camping and photography.
Can anyone tell me what the trails are like in Eastern Tennessee? I have hiked part of the Appalachian Trail in the NE part of Pennsylvania (the Pocono area) and found it to be heavily laden with upturned rocks that like to trip you on the trail. This was pretty hard on my ankles.
Are the trails like this in the Eastern part of Tennessee too? I am hoping that it was just that part in Pennsylvania that is like this.
I will be in Nashville Thanksgiving weekend (Nov 27th through Nov 30th) and I would like to see some live music. Are there any good websites to show who is playing where in the area? I like all kinds of music.
Is there another Silverado's Dance Hall & Saloon other than the one located on Murfreesboro Road, Nashville? Rivergate area maybe? Thanks for your help. Desi
Anybody know anything about it?
I'm planning a vacation next summer and we will be spending 1 1/2 days in Chattanooga, and 6 days in the Pigeon Forge/ Gatlinburg area. What are the must see's and must do's in these areas? Also, are there any great, moderately-cheaply priced local eateries? Are these area's known for any particular type of food that shouldn't be missed?
My girlfriend and I are trying to schedule a trip to the Eastern area of Tennessee. I started researching the Great Smoky Mountain area but to my dismay, there are no bike rentals available inside the park until early April, this is a conflict because my scheduled vacation is before April. A rental outside the park would be no good because our vehicle doesn't have a roof rack or a hitch for transporting the bikes into a park. Does anyone know a national park that would be exciting for mountain biking and have bike rentals before April 1st?
My ultimate destination is Andrews NC, but I am traveling from Northeast Texas across Arkansas via I30 and I40 to Memphis. From there I am not sure if it is better to take I40 to Nashville and then I24 to Chatanooga or if Hwy 64 across Tenn is better. I've also been looking at Hwy 72 across top of Mississipi and Georgia to get to Chatanooga. Time issue is probably running neck and neck with the issue of gasoline usage/price right now, but also will consider the condition of the Monteagle Pass on I24 as my trip is in mid March. Any suggestions or experience from any one?
At the beginning of April I will be traveling from Atlanta to Gatlinburg. From there I will be driving through the mountains to Cherokee and then Asheville.
I am writing this because I could use any tips, suggestions, must visit places (preferably free or cheap due to a tight budget), restaurants to eat at while we are traveling, anything that you think might help us out! We love nature and love to see new things (that will be a major part of this trip). As much as I love hiking I don't think we will have much time to do a lot of that on this trip. We do however plan to go on a few short hikes to see waterfalls! Any tips are helpful though!! Here is some more info on the trip:
-We will be making a day out of driving from Atlanta to Gatlinburg, TN (We will be driving down to Cade's Cove Loop on the way there and plan to walk around Gatlinburg and check out some of the stores in the area maybe Pigeon Forge too).
-The next day we will Drive from Gatlinburg to Asheville, NC. We plan to drive the Cherokee Orchard Road and Roaring Fork then hit 441 into the National Park. We will be making stops along the way to see the beautiful scenery. When we get over to Cherokee we are planning to spend some time there but not sure what we will actually be doing yet. Then we are going to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway for a little bit until we get to Maggie Valley. From here we will get off BRP and take the most direct route to Asheville.
- Then we will be spending a few days/nights in Asheville (not sure what all we will be doing there yet either)
I have a strange question...
Can anyone tell me how the town of Cummingsville got its name? What is the history of the town?
Thanks in advance :o)
I,m travelling to Memphis in May.Iwould also like to spend afew days in Nashville any ideas i do not fancy driving. Are there any coach trips from Memphis to Nashville or train services.

We will be coming from Florida, two from northern Illinios and one from New Jersey. Any suggestions...please??? Many thanks.
