Airport transfer in Tashkent

How hard is it to get a taxi at 2 AM? What is the cost to downtown? Are the taxis safe?
thank you

You'll find lots of taxi drivers touting for business around the terminal exit. You have two options - walk straight past them out the carpark where you'll find an 'official' taxi rank or negotiate with one of the guys around the door. It's not far from the airport into the city, only about 6km and taxis are cheap in Tashkent so, depending on your negotiating skills and ability to stick to your guns, you shouldn't pay any more than5 -$10- which is by far the biggest fare you'll pay in Tashkent but at that time of the morning and after dealing with the arrival procedures (expect these to take anything up to 2 hours) all you're going to want to do is get to where you're going. If you go for the "official" taxi you still must negotiate a firm price.
