I need some planning for 14 nights altogether in SA.
5 nights in JB, hotel, what to do etc.
I want one night in Sun City, please suggest hotel, transfer from JB including flights option, and things to do and see.
Then a flight to Cape town with hotel, what to do etc.
Thanks in advance for all replies
I see that you've been a VT member for a few years, so you'll be familiar with accessing information from the travel pages and fora for each destination.
Why don't you start by perusing those and then revert to this forum with more specific queries, since only you know what your particular interests, priorities and budget constraints are?
If you are planning only one night in Sun City then I would just not bother with it at all. You cannot fly there from JNB; the only way to get there is by car, and it's a 2-3 hour drive (depending on traffic). Everything that there is to do in Sun City, with the possible exception of the casino and the water park, can be done (better) elsewhere in SA.
I think 5 days in JNB is way too many. It is really not a great place to visit as a tourist--spend one or two full days at most. Instead of staying there for so long, and instead of Sun City, you'd be better off doing a trip to Kruger or one of the private game preserves for a few days. You can do great safari trips that will be much more interesting than Sun City's Pilanesberg reserve.
I agree that one night in Sun City is really not worth the trip.
Rather than spending 5 days in J'burg- stay 2-3 days in Sun City. Cascades Hotel or Palace. Sun City is a pleasure resort, and casino is main attraction, good if you like that kind of thing. There is also Pilansberg Game Resevere nearby.
There is transport from the airport to Sun City via Shuttle bus, or you could hire a car and drive yourself. About 2.5 hours . See this website
Fly to CT from Johannesburg.Hotel depends on your budget.
For things to see and do: I have a page on CT (my home city) the LINK is on my homepage.
Once in Cape Town- you could maybe either hire a car (beautiful scenic drives) or go to a local agent and book day tours. Driving yourself is easy, the roads are excellent. The Winelands (an hour from cbd) are a must visit. Spend a night in Fransch Hoek or Stellenbosch. Beautiful old Dutch architecture, oak trees, surrounded by soaring mountains- and food is absolutely the best.
