Hey! I am from Birmingham and my friends and me would love to plan a day trip to Stonehenge. Does anybody know if there are any tours from Birmingham? Thank you!!
Traveling to London and Paris in November. Anyone have suggestions. I want to see the country side, and am not that thrilled with palaces, except their surroundings.
I will be visiting England in October with my son...a father and son trip! Want to visit Stonehenge, but have heard that many tours just take you to the visitor center. How can I be sure to get up close, or go into and around the site?
Are there particular tours I should sign on to to get the most out of our visit?
Thank you in advance for your help.
What time will the sunrise and can i get to photograph it?
Hi, I am from Germany and I want to visit Stonehenge at the summer solstice (June, 21th 2014). Where can I get Information about tickets, opening times in the evening etc...
Thanks a lot!
Hi, I am staying at Bath and would like to take a trip to Stonehenge, followed by Salisbury Cathedral. I would like to attend the Evensong service at Salibusy Cathedral at 5.30pm. I was wondering what is the best way to do it and if I could do it independently? Because my search online has always led to tours that only go to Stonehenge but not Salisbury Cathedral.
is there any tour travel in this august from Birmingham to Stonehenge...for one day trip
I am fortunate enough to have booked a sunrise tour of Stonehenge during my trip to England this January. However, I am staying in London, and I don't think there is a train that could get me to Salisbury by 7:30. Any advice or suggestions on how to get there? I have considered renting a car for the day, but I'm under 25 and can't drive a manual, both of which lead to premium prices. Any and all advice appreciated, thanks!
I tried to book the sunrise inner circle tour for my trip 6 MONTHS IN ADVANCE and they were already booked up. I'm planning on going out there on my own to watch the sunrise over Stonehenge. However, they don't "open" until 9:30 a.m. and I will be there much earlier then that. Does anyone know how close I can get to see Stonehenge before they "open"?
Planning my first trip to stonehenge but don't really know where to stay...I would like a luxury hotel ( approx 150-200 pounds per night) and I would like to do a tour or two from the hotel. I don't plan to drive....would Bath be a good idea or is it too far away? Or Alternatively a village in Wiltshire? Really don't know much about the area, went to Bath 20 + years ago.
I was looking into London attractions but would also like to visit stonehenge if time allows.
Is it better to book in advance or is it not worth it. I have found some tickets online at:
however they are the same price as gate so wondered if anyone knew if this was worth it to savce time on the day when i get there?
In Summer 2004, I was able to see Stonehenge with my daughter's choral group.
On the way back to our hotel, we drove by what I think was part of another henge. It wasn't too far from Stonehenge. I remember a curve in the road and a couple (?) of standing stones in a pasture that had sheep in it. I don't remember what our guide said about the spot. Does this vague description sound familiar to anyone? I would like to know the name of the spot.
I want to take a private tour that allows entrance up close to the stones at dusk or dawn. Which time of day is better (for pictures... not concerned with amount of people)? We can choose... but the tour guide is leaning toward dawn since it is more convenient for him. I was leaning towrd dusk since I have only seen pics at Dusk and they are striking. If it is equally as beatiful at dawn then no point in inconveniencing the driver. If dusk is superior then I will dig my heals in. So.... Dusk? Dawn? No difference?
how much is the coach fare from waterloo to salisbury? what about the bus ride from salisbury to stonehenge?
Hi there -
I was wondering if anyone could tell me the last year or decade it was possible to get close to Stonehenge? As in close enough to touch or sit right next to the stones? I'm asking for a story I'm writing. I think 1978 was the year the fence went up, but would access have been restricted before then?
Which is the best hotel in Salisbury???????????????????
I understand it is possible to go into the circle on certain days at dawn or dusk outside regular hours. Has anyone done this? Is it necessary to be part of a larger group/tour ? Why is it not possible near/on equinoxes or solstices?
Just like to ask if anyone took their tour with these companies before to Stonehenge, Windsor and Bath for a day. I am trying to decide which tour operator to use, and these 2 offers the big coach compared to Astral Tour which offers the 16 seater mini coach.
Thanks! Cheers! =)
Hi, anyone use Astral Travel before? Any opinion?
I read earlier post on Averbury vs Stonehenge. I am indecisive now.
But I pretty much want to see Stonehenge as well - the above is the nicest combination of places I can find for a tour (budget) from London.
Anyone can advise whether to cover the above 3 places in a day would be worthwhile? I don't think we are considering the option to drive as there are only 3 of us and we are rushing for time.
We are visiting London in early September and plan to hire a car and drive to Bath and Stonehenge, we have looked up the Village of Lacock and it looks beautiful, can anyone tell me if there is anywhere to stay in the village overnight as I think it was be a great experience. Thank you for your help. Regards, Michele
I will be visiting my daughter who is temporarily working in Eastbourne, England in mid-March. We want to do a day trip to Stonehenge. I've been frustrated with search engines and websites and wonder if anyone knows if this is possible and then how and who and whatever other nouns, verbs and adjectives would be helpful to make this happen!
Hello, I'm contemplating a stop at EITHER the Stonehenge or Avebury stone circles. I know you can't actually walk around Stonehenge, but the vast majority of people go there instead of Avebury...is it that much more impressive? I'd appreciate any opinions on the pro's and con's of each place. Thanks!
I am visiting Birmingham and have plans to go to Stonehenge. Can someone please tell me the easiest way to get there from Birmingham (not by car) Thank you
