Places appropriate for Vegans (& Raw Vegans) to travel & experience?
I have lived in Adelaide for 10 years and I have seen a fair amount of places so far including the Flinders Ranges, Whyalla, Port Hughes, Robe and of course heaps of places close to Adelaide (Hahndorf, Barossa, McLaren Vale, Victor Harbor, Rapid Bay etc).
My aunt is visiting from the US for a few weeks and we are thinking of going away somewhere for 3 nights, preferably less than a 4 hour drive from Adelaide since we have an infant (3 adults plus 1 infant). Looked at KI but it's too expensive with ferry and accommodation.
Can you suggest anywhere fantastic to visit that I haven't listed above?
My wife & I like to travel from Adelaide for the a weekend away. Does anyone suggest a place that's busy still?
The Crown @ Victor harbor was great years ago but dead quiet now. Manum, Berri, Renmark, Hardorf Gawler all were good years ago but not sure now
I am currently organizing a couple of weeks trip to Melbourne in June with 3 others. I haven't got an itinerary at the moment. What "must see" things and places are there around Melbourne? We are driving via the Great Ocean Road to Adelaide. Would like to hear some suggestions what to see and where to stop to break the trip. Also options coming back via inland. Thanks a lot!
I stumbled across Viator Tours. I know they don't actually conduct the tour themselves, which always makes me nervous.
I'm not sure who their tour carry is, but I'm interested in the Kangaroo Island 2-Day Wilderness Safari Adventure Tour from Adelaide. Has anyone had any experience with this booking a tour through Viator? Does anyone know who they use to actually conduct the tour?
Where is best place to stay after Coober Pedy - I thought maybe Quorn and then where after that. Have 3 days before heading to Halls Gap for over night then straight back to Geelong. Would like to see wineries but not expensive ones, and like to stay in B&B or local hotels - nothing too expensive. Will have a car and showing a friend from Colorado around.
What have I missed on the “MUST EAT WHILE in South Australia ” list for Nov-Dec visit.

Hi, I'm looking for an inexpensive 2-day tour of Kangaroo Island. I have seen that the Adelaide Youth Hostel offers a tour. Has anyone done this tour? Is it a quality tour? Alternatively, has anyone used the company Surf and Sun? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
In July I would like to travel form Adelaide to Alice Spings by public transport. In between I was thinking about visiting Barossa Valley, Wilpena Pound and Coober Pedy. I have two questions about this:
- Can these destinations easily be reached by public transport (if yes, which service?) or is it better to skip?
- How long should I stay at these locations? Are there many interesting things to see and do?
Thanks in advance!
Thank all of you for your replies to my first posting. I really appreciate your feedback!
I am traveling to Australia with my son who is 30 years old, and the situation is that we have had a difficult relationship in the past. This trip is an opportunity to let him know how much he means to me. We live near Los Angeles, CA., and I am not healthy and don't know if I will be able to travel in the future.
Thanks to your help, we have decided on our itinerary:
1. Arrive in Brisbane on 8/31/08
2. Leave Brisbane and arrive in in Adelaide on 9/3
3. Leave Adelaide and arrive in Melbourne on 9/5
4. Leave Melbourne and arrive in Sydney on 9/8
5. Leave Sydney on 9/13 and arrive in Los Angeles
We have already booked the flight and the hotels and I was wondering if I can get guidance on what we should do during our stays in these four locations.
My budget is limited but I feel that this is a once in a lifetime chance for us to have a second chance to re-develope our relationship. I want my son to remember this trip for the rest of his life and am so grateful that he agreed to it.
I am afraid that if we go there without knowing what we must see, I will surely regret it.
Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all of you for your kindness in this matter.

We're planning a trip to Kangaroo Island as our main destination as we've got people to visit...and as we have a limited number of days off (wed night, thursday, friday, saturday and sunday) I'm trying to get a feel of whether to spend a day in adelaide and a day and a half in Kangaroo Island (assuming that the rest of the time will be spent travelling and sleeping) or 3 days in Kangaroo Island with no time spent in Adelaide to tour.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Looking for a place to stay very close to Chinatown, Sydney.

We have been awarded our SIR visa, sponsored by the SA government. At this time there is little to no opportunities in my field in SA, however, I have since found promising employment opportunities elsewhere in regional Australia e.g. Tasmania. The Tas government have indicated they will support ur move there and subsequent bid for permanency (provided we fulfill the visa requirements).
Any tips on handling the SA government?

I'm travelling to Adelaide and South Australia in two weeks. We're landing at noon on Thursday and have a 10:30 ferry to Kangaroo Island booked for the next day. At first I planned to go to Barossa but now I think we don't have enough time for that. Between Adelaide Hills and McLaren, what would be your choice? Adelaide Hills is closer to the airport so we would have more time to visit. McLaren would get us further south for a shorter drive the next day... any tips/suggestions? Thanks in advance! :)
