Hi, Does anybody know the timing of buses from Semporna to Sandakan.
Hi, is there any public transport (minivan/bus/etc) from Papar to Kundasang? I would like to leave for Kundasang around noon. There are 2 of us.. thanks.
Can't find any accommodation on the net for July 20 , tomorrow.
Is there any walk in accommodation on the island.
Feeling pretty desperate just now.
We are planning a trip to Sabah and we'll be reaching Sandakan airport at 1230 on 20th January according to the flight schedule. We are planning to board the 2 P.M. bus to Semporna, stay overnight and do a discovery dive in Mabul/Sibuan on 21st. I feel we might be cutting it close if there's any delay in the flight or some other problems and we are not able to board the 2 P.M. bus. What would be the alternatives to reach Semporna if we do miss the 2 P.M. bus. How much would taxis charge, for the four of us, from Sandakan to Semporna ?
Assuming everything goes according to plan and we finish our dives on 21st, would it be possible to take an overnight taxi or bus if there's any to Kinabatangan, do a morning cruise and return to Sandakan? Our flight from Sandakan airport, back to Kuala Lampur, is at 2040 on 22nd Jan.
Also, is it worth all this to do a discovery dive at Mabul. I've heard it's great but if it isn't worth all the hype, then we can just plan to go to the Kinabatangan, Sepilok and the Rainforest Discovery Centre instead.
Any help would be appreciated. And thanks in advance :)
I will be traveling through Malaysia, Borneo, Cambodia & Sri Lanka this summer. I know that US dollars are an accepted currency in Cambodia but would it be of benefit to bring Dollars to Sri Lanka & Malaysia or is the local currency only used? Advice welcome.
We plan to be in Mount Kota Kinabalu end June, and would like to know if there are any safari tours on 4 wheel drive to see wild animals. (Anyone know when is the best time to see elephants?)
P.S. Not interested in safari high speed boat tours, as we have previously been in Sabah.
Suggestions are most welcome
Can I seek help here?

I will join a 5 days tour in Sandakan covering Danum Valley and Kinabatangan river. The tour operator encourage the participants to minimize baggage leaving the rest of the luggages at the hotel. The point is that we will join the tour in Sandakan (flying from Kuching with a stopover in Kota Kinabalu) and end the tour in Lahad Datu from where we will fly back to KK. Is there a left luggage office at the KK airport that could keep our baggages for 5 days? Any suggestion?
I will travel in Sabah next August. Reading my guide book I undestand that August is the rain season on the west coast of Sabah while the weather should be good in the rest of the region. Is it right? I should expect rain In Kota Kinabalu and Pulau Gaya?
Thank you in advance!
Any idea of the best way to get from Sukau to Semporna, I'm assuming bus??? Also, any idea of how long it might take and cost would be a bonus.
We are looking at going to Sabah next year for 5 nights then going to Sumatra for 5 nights then Bali for 10 nights. Can anyone tell me if there is a direct flight from Sabah to Sumatra?
Is there any travel agency in KK where I can join a 2 days 1 night tour to Danum Valley Rainforest. Do they gather at KK airport and guide the tour all the way round until return to KK? The time is about the middle of next week?
I am going to Sabah early next month. I heard about beautiful underwater near around Pulau Sipadan but it seems just for experienced scuba divers. To a fresh beginner who wants to learn snorkelling, is there anywhere near Sipadan where I can join courses to learn snorkelling? If it is the first time to learn snorkelling, do you suggest Sipadan, or any small islands near KK that I can take the training easier and safer, and not necessarily commute to a place far from KK?
Hello...Any female tourist who travel to SAbah area, KK, Sandakan or Tawau looking for companionship....
We are climbing Kinabalu in Feb. I have heard that the Sutera chain have a monopoly of accommodation in the park and that it is somewhat overpriced. Looking at options outside such as Kinabalu Rose Cabin but cannot find any reviews for these options. Do not want a long walk to the hotel after descent from the mountain either. Any advice on best place to stay appreciated.
I am going to Sabah for 8 days in Feb, amd am planning to climb Mount Kinabalu. Would like to spend the rest of our time on the beach can anyone recommend the best beach resort for a short stay. Neither of us are particularly into scuba diving which most resorts seem top specialise in.
Hi, we are off to Sabah at the end of October and think Danum Valley sounds an amazing place to go for a couple of days but very confused about accommodation. We cannot afford the Rainforest Lodge or the researchers accommodation but cannot find any alternatives. Most the info we find says these two places are the best places to say, suggesting there are alternatives but we cannot find any! Can anyone help us?
Also what clothing is required for Sabah in general - travelling round a bit. Are you required to cover up with trousers etc most of the time or are shorts etc acceptable for KK etc (obv jungle is different)
Any advice on the above (or anything in Sabah!!) much appreciated
How much does wine beer and spirits cost to purchase in KK?
I am tossing up between these two hotels.
Which is better value?
Are they close to the major shopping precincts?
Can you walk to the beach?
Is it worth paying extra for a water view?
I am going to KK in January next year.
Should I get all my ringgits here before I go or is the exchange rate better there.
And if I waited till I got there should I take Aussie dollars or American dollars?
My boyfriend and I are planning a trip and hopefully incorporating some homestays in our itinerary. Is it acceptable to ask if we can both stay (obviously it doesn't mean the same bed) or is it likely we would be stepping on some culturally sensitive toes? Don't want to offend potential hosts. Some pointers would be great. Thanks
We(My husband & me) are planning a 5 day trip to Sabah in Mid Nov 2010.
We r currently living in selongor(PJ).
We have planned to spend 2 nights at Kapalai Island Resorts, during which we wish to relax, snorkel, island hop etc(we r not dive enthusiast though)
We have another 2-3 days which we have not planned yet. I would like to know what are the other nearby places we can visit in sabah.(As we wish to start our trip with wildlife experiences or mountain ranges etc & get to relax for last 2 nights at Kapalai islands)
Please suggest some must c places that we can cover in 2 days in sabah mainland.
Thanks in advance :)
My wife and I are planning a trip to Borneo spending 3 to 4 days to see wildlife (especially orangutans) and go diving for 5 or 6 days at Sipadan (probably from Mabul).
Danum Valley seems like a logical place to do the wildlife exploring due to it's proximity to Mabul and its variety of wildlife.
We would prefer to see Orangutans in the wild rather than at Sepilok if possible.
Has anyone done this kind of combo before?
We would be leaving from LAX and are looking at either November 2010 or early March 2011 , which seems to be the drier season.
Any suggestions for logistics, best places to stay, booking, hiring a guide, best season for wildlife, etc.
I am planning to go to Sipadan snorkeling & diving for a few days. I think I will stay at Semporna because it will be cheaper. But then I will have to take the speedboat everyday. I wonder if it will turn out to be very expensive this way.
Does anyway know, from Semporna, taking a speed boat to Sipadan (I heard it takes about an hour), how much will it be costing each-way?
Thanks in advance,
I have some concerns about ensuring I adhere to culture in Sabah
Is it OK to kiss your girlfriend in public if not married in Sabah?
Can my girlfriend and I visit a Mosque as non_Muslim, if so what clothes/rules do we need to adhere to?
Are there any laws about drinking alchohol on the street or in certain areas/ times of the day
Thanks for any feedback
Do you know if you are really sure to go to the best diving spots (including sipadan)when you are staying at the Kapalai resort and dive from there?
1) Which island is good for sighting of fishes from the beach. We have young kids so some may not be able to snorkel far.
Is Sapi, Gaya, Manukan, Mamutik or Sulung?
2) Is Kudat a nice place to go? How far from KK City or Ranau?
3) How far is Lokkawi from KK City? Will we be able to see orang utan there?
4) Where can we find the Rafflesia?
We are travelling next week. Thanks
Do you think it's feasable to rent a motorbike (scooter or big bike)at KK for ten days and do a trip around Sabah and maybe also in Surawak. I know i might miss a few touristic musts but do you think this could be a great way to travel in the region?
Concenring the diving, I'm planning to go to tawau (sipadan)during four days after the biketrip.....
Thanks in advance,

Anyone have experience diving in Sabah? Any suggestions on who to dive with? Actually, I'm considering doing a divemaster internship here, so I would probably be here at least a couple months. Any suggestions on where to do it at? Any experiences with good instructors or anything like that? Any information you think would be helpful would be appreciated.
