We're going to be in Sri Lanka in September and we're looking for a beach that is not too rough to spend about 5 days. This is the 'nicer' part of our trip, so we're looking for somewhere nice to stay (though not necessarily a resort, smaller more boutiquey places are our preference). We've been looking at Bentota, Hikkaduwa and Mirissa... but a bit confused as to which one would be best for us ...
Does anyone know of good hostels (shared accomodation) in any of the south coast towns? I'm travelling alone and find it easier to meet backpackers this way :)
Hi guys and gals
We are looking for a beautuful resort/venue for our wedding next year. 5 Star if possible and we'd love the cermony on the beach. Does anyone know any place in Sri Lanka like that? We were thinking of the Bentota beach area.
Thanks for your suggestions
We are headign to Colombo Friday 1st of May, and planning to stay there for two days then
hit the souhthern beaches. But we can't quite decide where to go, we've heard Bentota, Hikkaduwa and Unawatuna are among the best beaches. So we can't decide where to go since we have to pick only one.
I read somehwere that Hikkaduwa can get a bit crowded, Is it during this time of year?
Ideally we're looking to stay 2 days for relaxation, somewhere right ont he beach, in a nice Hotel, budget is no issue, maybe learn surfing. Is there such a place? Any advice on somewhere special to stay?
Hello, after staying a night or tow in Kandy (Is this enough?) we are looking for somewhere to stay in the hill country for the rest of the week. Can you suggest one or two places? We are do not mind if it is a bit isolated, as long as there is somewhere to sleep and eat and there is good access to the rest of the hill country. We hope to cover the area between Kandy and Ella but are open to suggestions. Thanks for your help!
Hello, we are looking for somewhere to stay on the south coast of Sri Lanka for about a week at the end of the month. Can you suggest one or two places? We are looking for somewhere with some amenities (guest houses, restaurant, perhaps a bar or surf shop). The main thing we are looking for is somewhere with good transport to other places along the coast - major towns like Galle but also 'desert island' type spots. We hope to cover the area between Galle and Kirinda but are open to suggestions. Thanks for your help!
I plan to visit Sri Lanka in June.
I would like to stay at an Ayurvedic treatment centre.
I also want to do a short tour of the country.
Can anyone suggest a good itinerary?
Can anyone recommend the Barberyn Beach Resort near Galle?
Can anyone suggest a good Ayurvedic treatment centre, preferably near or on the sea?
What sort of weather should I expect?
I´m going to Sri Lanka in january at first we are going for a "round trip" of the island and then we are going to stay at Koggale beach. Please tell me what beach is like and what the hotel is like and if the food their is ok??? Because we have made plans for all inclusive their.
Anyone have any info on the new Amanwella resort? Also how are the beaches in Tangalle.
Thanks for all your help.
stayed at the Bentota beach hotel last September and thoroughly enjoyed it. We made friends with a local and are going back this September to visit her. She lives in Galle so we chose the Koggala beach hotel because it is nearer and because of budget. Does anyone have any info on the hotel and the area? i've only read two reveiws so far and one of them was a little worrying.
Hi all, I've seen some of the answer to previous questions but would like to know if you can surf at the Triton Hotel in Ahungalla or if its best to stay in Hikkaduwa. Were not experienced surfers so looking for board hire if possible. Thanks for your time.
Hi there, Three of us plan to go to the Southem Province during the last 2 weeks in November. We'd like to do some beach stuff - lazing, surfing, snorkelling - Mirissa sounds great for this, can anyone confirm and suggest transport from Colombo + pleasant accommodation? Or are other resorts better? We'd also like to see some wildlife and countryside (tea plantations perhaps?). Could anyone suggest the best way to combine everything, with the minimum of fuss and the maximum of fun for 3 people needing some chilling away from stressful lives? Thanks! Bamboogirl
Hey, Does anyone know how far Hikkaduwa is from Ahungalla? staying at triton in 2d week august and from what i have heard there isnt much to do in ahungalla...any suggestions?
hiya, My girlfriend and i will be in sri lanka for 9 days in mid August and at some point hope to head to mirissa for a few days. Evrywhere i read the surf 'season' for the south coast end s in April. Does this just mean that the wind is pretty much on shore all the time and strong, looking at the charts there seems to be plenty of swell hitting..... are there any sheltered spots down there that are surfable in an onshore and also can i hire a longboard anywhere down there?! many thanks dave
I had read some info from and acknowledge that there is some morris minor spare part manufactured in sri lanka and know the shop address Durable Cars Lanka Ltd, Udagama Road, Bataduwa, Galle. But I did not know their office telephone number or the e-mail address.I hope that I can directly contact them to look for some spare part needed, so that I can place an order to buy spare parts from them. Any body who can assist me to search for this shop telephone number and the e-mail address?? Will be much much appreciated!!!! Thank you very much. Thong
We are getting married at Bentota Beach hotel in August and just wondered if anybody can provide me with a progress report on the bridge building works over the river. In addition, There are 10 people travelling in our party and we are looking for the best and cheapest way we can get to the Pinnewala elephant orphanage.
Sorry, I wasn't very specific. It is a factory that makes parts, ie doors, for Morris Minors and then ship them to the UK. I have since found out their address: Durable Cars Lanka Ltd Udagama Road Bataduwa Galle I would still need to know if they accept visitors. Thanks
