We are traveling to South Lake Tahoe this weekend. Does anyone have any recommendation for a good spot to shoot Milky Way pictures? A location with nice foreground would be a nice addition.
I found this video on youtube -
Anyone know the location from which it was shot?
Thanks in advance!
Ok, so our first trip we had planned for a one yr anniversary got ruined so this year i need it to be special.
My Fiance and I are traveling to South Lake for our 2 year anniversary. We are on a tight budget and he has never been to that side of Tahoe, and Im not too familiar either. I need ideas!
We both enjoy thee forest areas, he is able to drink, but i am not so bars and night life arent the best.
We are really only looking to make memories not break the bank. I enjoy horseback riding and he enjoys going out and exploring. We both dont ski or snowboard, and arent interested either.
We are going in April on the 19th- 22nd. Right now all I have planned is visiting my favorite burger place from when I was younger, Burger Lounge, and MAYBE go to Zephyr Cove Stables. but that still leaves so much more time in the days we are there.
HELP ME? haha.
What are some activities to enjoy in South Lake Tahoe in mid-April?
do I need chains for my car if I am driving from Napa Ca. on Christmas
Hi we are travelling to the US in December. We have been before and would like to go somewhere different this time. We we're thinking of driving to Tahoe. If we were driving from San Fran would we need chains ? we are not experienced in the snow but would love for my daughter to be able to have some fun in the snow. What other things would you suggest doing if we were there for 2/3 days ? Thankyou
My husband and I will be visiting S Lake Tahoe for the first time the second week of September. What is the best way to see the best views, by car, tour bus, or cruise?
are there any transit options from SLT to carson pass?
I plan to take my 3 kids to Lake Tahoe in August. I plan to drive there, and will stay there for 2 full days. This is our first time to Lake Tahoe, and I found lots of things to do and see when I looked it up on the web. I want to know what sights and activities are most recommended to see or do in 2 days. Your specific advise will be greatly appreciated.
Hello, it has been a long time since I have visited this site. I a trying to plan a last minute camping trip for my family. I have 3 year old triplets, so I am concerned the camping in the lake area would be too cold at night for little ones. Are there places driving distance to the park and lake that are at a lower elevation, and thus, possibly not too cold. It looks like the overnight norms are around the low 40s near the lake. Thanks
It is my best friend's birthday and we are looking for a nice classy place to party. A club, food and great music. Also are there any convenient hotels nearby the party scene?
I arrive into SFO last week of August. Plan dividing my time between Lake Tahoe, and spending some time in Monterey/Carmel, returning to San Francisco for 1 or 2 overnights at end of journey. I have been to San Francisco 5 times and always enjoy walking across Golden Gate Bridge and walking in Golden Gate State Park. Need help planning easiest route as I normally travel Amtrak bus and train and want help traveling most direct way to avoid backtracking. What would be the easiest way to accomplish this, should I continue to Monterey/Carmel for first stop on day of arrival, which is a shorter journey if I get transportation. If so I could avoid having to pay for hotel. What is easiest route from Monterey up to Lake Tahoe, and will it require overnight stopover? If this is the case should I decide on hotel in Sacramento as have not been to that city even though I took a day trip to Lake Tahoe years ago and remember passing through. Would like to spend 1 or 2 nights in San Francisco at end of journey to enjoy the places I visited on earlier trips. I would also consider stopping off in new places if anyone can make good suggestions. Would like help if someone can recommend hotel in Lake Tahoe in convenient area where I can do hiking and nice scenic walks and take local bus or shuttle to other areas around lake. I will not be visiting casinos. I am active senior traveling solo and hope to get lots of help as I plan my travels. Many thanks to all.
Me and my boyfriend (21 and 23) are planning a trip at the end of this month in south Lake Tahoe. What hotels are the best for our age group, and is centrally located. Also what are some fun things to do within walking distance? Besides skiing or snowboarding! Just need a list of some things to do in south Lake Tahoe on a weekend!
Hi...my boyfriend and I are planning a trip to California at the end of August...We are flying into Reno and spending a few days in Tahoe. I was wondering what area you would suggest for a 25&23 year old? A nice day for us would be relaxing by water, maybe jet-skiing or parasailing or something, a cheap/quick lunch, a cute dinner and maybe some drinks afterwards. I prefer to walk everywhere, if possible, but I do want the best views and scenery. Any thoughts/suggestions would be a huge help!
Also, what is the weather like end of August? And is the water swimmable?
My husband and I are coming late February for our honeymoon. Where is the best place to stay in South Tahoe? We will not be skiing.
Planning a trip in late May. Where is the best place to stay -- luxury level - and still be in the thick of the action?
What public transportation is available daily to and from Pollock Pines, CA - Sierra at Tahoe and South Lake Tahoe ski resorts? And the best deal $ for a whole month (only Monday through Friday round trip for one person).
My brain is spinning with so much Lake Tahoe info! If anyone can narrow the choices down for me (North vs South, which mountains) that would be great!
Looking to go in late February. We are a group of 8-12 people, some snowboarders, some skiers. 4-6 are beginner and 3-4 intermediate, 1-2 expert. All in early thirties. We would like some kind of group lodging, preferably ski in ski out. Would like to be in an area with lots of things to do so that if anyone chooses not to ski, can do other things (ie ice skate, sledding). Nightlife also a plus.
Basically, trying to find something that fits everyone!
How much real snow, not manmade, will there typically be by the middle of December?
We are a family of 9 adults and 2 one year olds. Totally lost as to where the best are to rent a house in, so that we can all get around to do things. Please help. We are coming for my son's wedding on the 18th June but want to go out the day after as we are only there for a couple of days before going to San Francisco
My 11 year old son and I will be staying in South Lake Tahoe for a week at the end of July. We would like to see the giant Redwoods and giant Sequoias, where are the nearest locations found. We will have a rental car for the week.
We are 3 women who come to Tahoe every year for Memorial Day. We wanted to try something new and decided it might be fun to go skeet shooting or do indoor target practice. We would like a little instruction but don't want an all day class...this is just for fun, not serious. Any ideas where to go or who to contact?

My husband and three children are planning on relocating to South Lake Tahoe. Can anyone tell me if it is a great place to raise children? Is there enough to do, what about shopping? Is driving to Carson City the only option and is it doable in the winter? Any advise would help. Thanks
Hello, I am planning an anniversary trip for my husband and I to SLT and am looking for a couples massage. I found the spa I would like to schedule at, A Body Renew Massage Spa and I have found ONE massage therapist that I have read great reviews about, Marla. I can't seem to find any reviews about any other therapists there that can provide the same quality of service as Marla (I'm sure they're all great, but we're splurging on this and I really want to get someone that is recommended from personal experience) - can anyone from the area recommend a second therapist for me please? Thank You!
We are going to South Lake Tahoe July 30th > Aug 2nd. What clothes should we bring. We are in our 70's but get around on our own. How about the boat ride and candola ride? Anything else we should do?
