It might sound stupid, and I'm sorry if it does, but what is the bridge on the 3rd picture from "Leisure activities" of this link bluelagoon.com/Clinic/Leisur...
I ask because I've searched for "the rift" and "Gjáin" and I haven't found that bridge anywhere else.
Thanks in advance.
Leif the Lucky bridge, not Lycky!!!
Google Map coordinates are 63.868321, -22.675470
So then that bridge isn't the same as "the rift" ("Gjáin")?
The rift, surely, is the gap between the two tectonic plates which the bridge itself spans?
This is purely for tourists.
The rift valley is several kms wide (between 10kms-25kms)
If in Þingvellir for example, you would have to drive for a few minutes to go from on continental plate to the other on... Sounds a lot less "touristy" than "here I'm America and if I step here I'm in Europe"!!!
I think I got it :)
Does any of you know how to get there by public means from Reykjavik? Without using a tour company.
The only way I can think of is to take the bus to the Blue Lagoon, and then hike ten kilometers.
