Hello. I will be traveling with 3 others from Xian to Beijing in a couple of weeks. We plan to take the train. Any suggestions for a place to stop between? We are looking for something a bit off the beaten path. Are plan is to travel to town between Xian and Beijing, stay the day & night, then continue to Beijing in the morning. All suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

I'm wondering can anyone tell me anything about train travel in China? I am planning to travel from Xi'an to Taiyuan then Taiyuan to Beijing. Is it safe for a woman to travel by herself? Does anyone know where I can get a price list? The only ones I can find are 5 years out of date.
I am interested in traveling from Xi'an to Beijing with some stops in between-- for instance, to see the Great Wall in Jinshanling and Mutianyu, and to see Chengde, Datong, and perhaps some other places. Does anyone have any advice about transportation? Is there a train that makes local stops in these places?
Hi! I am travelling to Yulin this summer. I am terrified of small planes, so I don't want to fly from Xi'an to Yulin. Does anyone know if any trains run between Xi'an and Yulin? If they do, does anyone know how long they take? I see I could take an 8 hour bus.
I'm planning on doing some travelling in China this summer and hoping to use Xi'an as a base, does anybody know anywhere safe that we could leave a bag (for about a month and a half).
Also, has anyone studied Chinese in any university in Xi'an? After the summer we're staying in China until December and would like to do a summer course in the city. Been looking around the web but Chinese websites are not the easiest to navigate, any ideas which would be good? Looked a Xi'an foreign language university (which has a terrible looking website) and Shaanxi University so far (where we couldn't find the Chinese language course).
Hi, I would be visiting Xi'an around October 10th, 2004. Just wondering if anybody wants to join up and go siteseeing together.
