St John is the most beautiful and most desirable island I think, but it is really expensive. Most of the island is a national park so housing is hard to come by. I have never been to St. Croix, but everyone that I've talked to says that crime has gotten really bad. I have not heard anything good about St. Croix, but I haven't actually been there, so I don't think I'm qualified to give an opinion about it. St. Thomas will probably be your best bet. It's not nearly as nice as St. John, but it has more housing and the housing is more affordable. The capital, Charlotte Amalie has all the businesses that you'll need, but I would recommend living out of the city if you can.
