Me and my 2 friends are travelling to Cinque Terre from 28th Oct till 31st Oct 2016. We are using Riomaggiore as our home base. Since all our bookings are done, I would like to be prepared for our stay. Do you think Cinque Terre (Restaurants, Hotels, Pubs, hiking trails etc.) will be partially closed during our stay given its an off season? also, will it rain a lot or will I face bad weather? I would really love to enjoy the sea view but I am Little worried about the weather. I understand none can predict climatic changes but your answers would really help me.
Hi, my husband and I are travelling to Cinque Terre for 2 nights in late November this year.
We are choosing between staying in one of the Cinque Terre towns, or in La Spezia.
We feel we would like to wake up in one of the towns and experience them fully, but we realise that November is low season and we are wondering which would be the best town to stay in so we can experience the 5 towns, but also be able to find somewhere to eat at night. Will any restaurants be open in Cinque Terre in November? Which town would be the best for both food and access to the other towns?
I have read that cinque terre is 5 villages. What is the name of the village in the photo?
Hello, what train or bus leaves from Pisa to Cinque Terre? How many hours travelling?
I'll be visiting the region in 2 months and am an avid photographer:
I've yet to decide where to stay yet. I'll be there for 4 days. Photographic locations at dawn and dusk are my priority.
Regardless of where I stay, I'd love to hike to an adjoining village, enjoy and photograph the sunset, eat dinner in that village and then take a single fare trip train ride back around 8 PM to my hotel in another village. This would allow me to photograph at least 4 sunsets at 4 different villages.
Is that feasible? How often are the trains and when do they stop running in the evening?
Taking my 2 sons for 2 weeks in Italy. Spending 3 nights in Sestri Levante end of May. What 2 must do's in Cinque to make this memorable for my boys (19yrs & 23yrs)
We are 5 adults planning on a visit to the Cinque Terre in September, 2017. At the moment we are thinking of making our daily jump off point either Vernazza or Monterosso al Mare. Will be booking an Airbnb, VRBO, etc. Do you have an opinion of which town would be the most enjoyable to come back to every afternoon/evening.
We have 5 people heading to the Cinque Terre area next year and are wondering about the use of their train system. We really would like to NOT rent a vehicle as we really will not need it at the destinations, just in-between with troublesome parking issues. I understand the convenience of the train within the 5 villages, here are my questions:
Thanks in advance for your help, specifics are appreciated!
I am hoping to visit Cinque Terre in late October this year. I have checked the climate, and it looks like the weather should be okay.
I'm not so sure about whether the trails will all be open and I would expect that the boats to the villages will probably not be running. And the restaurants, and so on, will they be open? Any guidance on this would be much appreciated.
I am hoping to go to Cinque Terre in October.
Does anyone have any advice for the trip, things to do, things to avoid?
Also would 2 days be sufficient (I know this depends on the person, but I mean enough time to do some of the walks and to see the 5 villages). How long do most people stay in Cinque Terre?
Also, what are good walks to do, any details of where they start and finish?
Finally, there is some good guidance on the site already, but anything more on accommodation would be good too.
How do you get from the hotel to the start of the hiking trail?
I understand hiking the trail from Monterroso to Vernazza is the steepest and most difficult one. Would it be silly to use a walking stick? I get nervous when there are no guard rails either, and if the trail is slippery in May. I want to do all of the trails, even to Corniglia.
Hi folks. I was in Cinque Terre in late September a few years ago and just loved it. I was fortunate that the weather was beautiful. It looks like I am going to be in Southern France over Christmas and I thought about driving over to CT for a few days, so a few questions:
1. How long of a drive would it be from Nice?
2. What should I expect the weather to be like in late December in your experience? Will it be warm enough to sit outside on the street with a bottle of wine after a day of hiking?
3. Will much be open for stores, restaurants and accommodations?
All the train timetables I can find online are valid until September 2. Does anyone have one that will be valid in October when we will be in the Cinque Terre? Or can anyone tell me how it will differ from the timetable I have found? Thanks.
We are taking the train from Firenza to La Spezia on Oct.3 How far ahead can we purchase tickets for 2nd class trip? Also is it confusing to change trains en route? I see that most of them stop at Pisa.
We will be leaving Corniglia on Oct.5 for Rome. As this is a Sun., will this present a problem with trains from Corniglia to La Spezia?
My husband and I are meeting friends in Cinque Terre for the day in mid October to do some hiking. They are staying in Portofino , we are staying in Montacatini. I was thinking we would drive and park in La Spezia and take a train from there. Where would be a good place for us to meet? Should they drive or take a ferry or train from Portofino. Also we are thinking about getting a room for the night maybe Vernazza rooms? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Is there a ferry from Portofino to Cinque Terre? We want to travel to Monterosso, then on to Vernazza, returning to Portofino late evening. Is there a better form of transportation we should consider? We do not have a car. Thank you!
I have found the Cinque Terre train time schedule found on and am confused about the times for (Column B) Sunday train times to La Spezia. It looks like there's only one train at 9:00am. Is that possibly true or am I reading the timetable wrong? Does the Cinque Terre regional train run out of Riomaggiore to La Spezia more frequently? I need to get to La Spezia to catch the 8:20am train out to Rome. Can anyone, does anyone have info to assist in my Sunday travel worries?
Can I please have some ideas??
We're on a budget but I'm planning on proposing to my girlfriend here in CT. So far, we love Monterosso or Vernazza. I'm having a difficult time finding available accommodation for 3 nights (end of this month) for less than 140eu per night. I'd love to find a cute B&B, Vacation Rental or anything with a balcony or rooftop terrace with a sea-view.
Any ideas? Would be nice to have this private and romantic area of ours for me to propose in. :-)
Have a question!
Not exactly where to post this? We going to be in Parma heading to Cinque Terra latter part of May staying in Vernazza for 2 nights, unfortunately it is over the weekend (Oh well). What is the best and quickest way to get to Cinque Terre from Parma? Also with the Springs rains coming has anyone heard how the trails are especially from Monterosso to Vernazza. We would like to see all the cities if possible either by train, walking or boat. We get the info from the Park however it is in Italian, and can only understand the chart a little.
Thanks for all the help and info.
Is the lovers path from Riomaggiore to Manarola open? If not, when is it scheduled to be open?
Have the fee be reinstated for the walking paths?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Can you paraglide in May? I saw a site where they say only Oct-April
My husband and I will be in Italy in 2 weeks. We will be visiting Cinque Terre via Florence and will likely make a stop at Pisa. We'd like to spend 2-3 days in Cinque Terre and then travel on to Paris via Milan, St. Moritz, and Zurich. Could anyone provide us with the best way to make the most of our stay there and perhaps suggest where to stay and how to get around. I've been doing a bit of research and have read Riomaggiore and Manarola are good places to stay. We're welcome and open to any and all suggestions. Thanks for your help. :)
My wife and I are going to be in Riomaggiore for 2 days in November (22, 23 nov). On 24th, we want to go to Rome. We wanted to take the 8.07 train from La Spezia but theres nothing connecting Rioggiomore and La Spezia for this ? Do we need to take a cab at this early hour ? Any suggestions?
My wife and I and another couple are planning to visit the Cinque Terre in Italy,in about ten days. We are traveling by car and we would like to spend one or two days visiting the area. Can anyone hint us how to visit this area in such a short time, and perhaps suggest where to stay and how to get around? We usually prefer to stay at B&Bs when we travel Europe. But I was wondering whether we could park the car in one place and visit the Cinque Terre either by bus or boat within a day or two.
Any suggestion are GREATLY appreciated because I wouldn't know where to start otherwise.
Thank You for any reply. :-)
We will be traveling to Italy in sept and have chosen il borgo di campi. As on of our 'hotels' I've seen great reviews and bad reviews about the place and the only bad thing is getting to and from la spezia. If we were going into la spezia what would be the latest we could get a train back to riomaggiore and how late do the busses from there run to our hotel? I keep finding different answers
Hi, can you please advise me the best place to stay for a solo male 35yr traveller in Riomaggiore? Thanks
Is any of you know when is the earliest train schedule from Riomaggiore? I wonder if it is possible that i can take the train at 08:07 from La Spezia
Checking the Italian Trenitalia site I cannot find a train, even with transfer from, Milan to Manarola in Cinque Terre or even to Levante. Must I go the other way first through La Spezia or this there a train I can take with a transfer?
Need your help. Thanks.
