Me and my wife were planning an Antartica cruise in December. Wanted to know feedbacks from anyone whos been there and whether it is worth the trip.
Hi, my friend and I are planning to visit Chile in December and would very much like to see the Torres del Paine. However, we're not really big hikers so would like to see the park as a day trip. We are OK with some moderate hiking (say 4 hours), anything more might be a bit difficult.
I came across some tours (e.g. like the one offered by Comapa below) that includes a visit to the glacier and TdP. Has anyone done this tour before? Will I get to see the famous towers? And are there be any actual hiking included in the tour? Thanks in advance!
My husband and I are traveling in TdP in late Feb/Early March. We need to transfer from Puerto Natales CL to Rio Gallegos AR. I haven't been able to find any buses which post schedules, although out guide books mention the route exists 4 days a week. Any insight would be appreciated....
looking for bus info from punta arenas to punta natales and then on to torres del paine park. (we are thinking of spending two nights in the park.) any info or suggestions you have would be helpful including times, prices, .
Two of us want to get from eith PA or PN to Ushuia, probably by bus on 22nd or 23rd Jan. We would prefer an over night bus if possible.
Does anyone know if such a bus service exists? Please could you let me know information re this service, who long it takes (approx) and the companies to use. I have heard that it is possible to go via Rio Grande - does anyone know about this please? I´m having google searching failure right now!
Thanks in advance. Happy travelling all.
i will be doing the W circuit in December 2006. I will use a tent.
Do I need special rock pegs? Where can I get drinking water?
Thanks for answering this simple questions,
2007 will be the International Polar Year... For that occasion, I would like to realize a dream: crossing Antartica! Anybody within this forum could tell me how to organise this expedition ?
Thanks for your help!
I have some friends who are going on the Beagle Channel in mid July-- has anyone done this trip, and if so, what are the conditions like? Any other suggestions about the trip would be helpful. My friends have a 7 year old daughter that will be going with them as well.
We're heading from Buenos Aires down to Ushuaia, then up the other side to Santiago. We're going sometime in Jan/Feb probably. Just trying to find some prices on budget travel there.
So far we found:
BA - Ushuaia via Aerolineas Argentina flight for102US
or via bus
BA - Comodoro Rivadavia - Rio Gallegos - Ushuaia for92US.
Anything less expensive? Flight sounds better.
Then from Ushuaia via Rio Grande to Punta Arena, then up Puerto Montt and finally Santiago all via bus for85US.
Can anyone provide the commercial bus schedule (e.g Zaahj and Bus Sur) between these two locations. I'm looking for departure/arrival times and days of week that buses operate. Travel would be the week of January 24 – January 28, 2005. Specifically: 1.from Torres del Paine to Calafate via Cerro Castillo 2.from Calafate to Torres del Paine via Cerro Castillo 3.from Torres del Paine to Calafate via Puerto Natales 4.from Calafate to Torres del Paine via Puerto Natales This seems simple, but to date I can't get a response from bus operators or any travel agent. I will be in Calafate and have two days (1 night) free to get to Torres del Paine and back. Yes I know that's rushed, but unfortuately it's all the time I have! Any help on transfer information is appreciated!
Hi, I'm going to las Torres del Paine next week (Dec 3), but I don't have any camping equipment. Is it better to rent tents, sleeping bags, etc. in Pto. Natales (I've heard it's cheaper) or should I rent equipment at each refugio? Or, should I simply stay at refugios and not worry about camping at all?! Thanks for any feedback....I need help!
Has anyone recently completed this trip, in either direction? We're trying to decide whether or not it is worth doing at this time of year, with unpredictable weather etc etc (and considering the cost). Can anyone give us any details about the boat itself? What is the C class accommodation really like and is there sufficient food to last the four days? Has anyone tried the veggie option? Thanks, Panchojack and friends
Hello to all of you out in the nice world I have a question regarding clouting. I wonder what kind of clouth I should bring with me. How often is it raining in PA and how "cold" might the wind be. Thanks for your help Martin
Going in 3/04 w/ my wife & sister. We are thinking of doing 3 nights in one hosteria and 2 in another. Have read several good and one bad report about Hosteria Las Torres. Anybody been there early in '03? -How about Hosteria Lago Grey? I read that views are abstructed by vegetation. -How about Hosteria Pehoe? -Is it possible to go from Hosteria Las Torres to Campamento Torres on horse back? I read that the best view of the Torres is from that area. Thanks! Maviro
