I would like to visit this Friesian horse farm : http://www.henswoude.nl ..during my trip to Amsterdam, but I am not sure how to get there, or where it is exactly (other than it seems to be located in the province of Friesland) Can anyone provide any details? Transportation to and from Amsterdam? Accessability? Any informtion would be kindly appreciated. Regards to all, Appie
Rather bad connection here, according to the Dutch public transport website (www.9292ov.nl). There are no buses. Take a train from Amsterdam Central to Akkrum (takes nearly 2 hours), then a "Treintaxi" to Oldeboorn. When you buy your ticket in Amsterdam Central, then also buy a treintaxi ticket (about 3,50 euro). Once in Akkrum you call 0900 1961 for a train taxi which will take you there in about half an hour (though waiting time in Akkrum could be up to an hour). Total travelling time should be just under 3 hours. of course you can e-mail [email] for exact details.
Thankyou ATLC!!! You are the best!! :-) I think the easiest thing for me to do would be to rent a car while in Amsterdam and drive there! This should be fun, as I haven't driven a car in years! (I have kept my drivers license current, though..) Any tips on car rental agencies or anything I should know about renting/driving a car in the Netherlands? Thanks again, ATLC!
eh, I never rent a car so I shouldn't know. Driving there sbould be great fun, Friesland and the route there is beautiful. It's 140 km. and outside rush hour should take about 100 minutes.
Buy Two Traintaxis tickets as you will need one to get back, and it used to be impossible to buy them of the driver! ATLC Did you check if the taxi covers that area, here for example in Leiden you can use it to Katwijk, but not to Noordwijk (just a little further) For carrental check easyjet They have carrental as wel base din Amsterdam Friesland Rules!
Appie, did you check with the farm if they allow visitors? They may have excellent suggestions about how to get there.
As I said, I checked the official Dutch public transport website www.9292ov.nl It is advised there. Have a look yourself if you doubt it. I'm only advising!
Eiskje, I already advised the same.
Wow you are quick ATLC!
Not really. I gave full advise quite a few hours ago!
