I'm planning a two week trip towards the end of January, that I'm hoping will include Cebu, Bohol (Panglao) and then on to Malaybalay. I'll probably fly directly into Cebu first... I just learned there's a big festival going on the 3rd week of January. While I'd like to see that, I bet things will be booked up and crowded. What would be the first day I can safely fly into Cebu without encountering what's left of the festival?
From what I've read, I think I may be best off saving most of my beachgoing fun for Panglao, correct? In that case, I'd probably want to stay in a good hotel in the city. Friends have stayed in Shangri-La Mactan and were thrilled, but staying in an expensive beach resort that no one wants to step foot out of isn't really my thing.
What would be good to stay in that isn't too expensive? And, once there, what should we do with our time? I'm seeing the city with the idea in mind that someday I may want to permanently move there, or maybe just buy some property that I rarely see (until retirement) but let relatives live in for nominal fee. So, it would be good if I could get a realistic non-touristy overview of the city somehow. What city and/or island tours are available? I'd be up for even an all-day tour. Are there places on the island outside the city that would make good day-long destinations? I love photography, beaches and nature.
Also, how long would be good to stay in Cebu before hopping on a ferry to Tagbilaran City (for Panglao stay)? I'm thinking 3 nights. (And then maybe 5-7 in Panglao with the rest in Malaybalay.) FYI, Malaybalay is the only one of these destinations I've actually been to. I'm completely unfamiliar with Cebu and Bohol. For comparison purposes, I did spend some wonderful days in Boracay.
can anyone show me where can i get a bottle decor..example:stuff with boat...or shell
thank you ....
I will be traveling economy class from Manila to Cebu March 29 on Philippine Airlines. My check in bag will weigh approx. 22kg which exceeds their 15kg limit.Their website does not explain how much extra I will have to pay for this.Cebu Pacific airlines is P400 per 5kg extra, is Philippine airlines the same? Thanks in advance for help.

Me and my friends are planning to visit Cebu and Bohol on Jan. 9-11, 2010 but we don't know where to start. Could anyone please assist me on the rates of tour packages based on the preferred plan below. Any suggestions or your personal tour experience (preferrably year 2009) will be of great help as well.
- arrive in Cebu (morning)
- tour the whole day and stay for the night. (which accomodation is good but affordable to stay at? and rates for Cebu tour, contact no.,etc. and which are the must-see places?)
- finish other tourist spots in Cebu if wasn't able to finish it on Day 1.
- go to Bohol for our check-in in resort/accomodation
- tour Bohol and stay for the night
- finish touring
- Off to Manila (afternoon/evening)
1. Which is better to go first, Bohol Countryside Tour then Dolphin watching and Balicasag Island Hopping the next day or vice versa?
2. Is it better to stay the entire trip in Cebu then just go to Bohol for a day tour? My cousin said it's better because there's no night life in Bohol. If so, please provide me your itenerary. Thanks!
I'm coming from abroad and this is my first time to go visit Cebu and Bohol. I only have 15 days in the Philippines and I want to make the most out of it. Your suggestions will really be a great help. Thanks so much!

Hi guys, first time planning a 6-day trip with some pals to cebu, on a budget! Will be spending a day and a half in cebu city (and the rest on the beautiful islands) and need your kind advice on accomodation and activities!
Accomocation: Intending to stay at Pensionne La Florentina (found out abt it from a travel book), but not able to find much information online about it. any idea what the rates are for a standard room? cost and duration of transportation to airport (i suppose by taxi)? is there any way to contact them other than via telephone (231 3318) to make a booking? Do i need to make any deposit? It is only 5 min walk to Ayala Centre but how about SM City Mall? generally would you recommend this pension house?
Acitivities: Is there a bazaar kind of market which sells local souveniers/clothes/fruits? Carbon Market seems more like a wet market selling mainly produce, not so much of a bazaar am i right? Where's a good place to chill out at night with a live band? anywhere to salsa in particular? Think Filipinos are natural great dancers! Do you guys happen to know of any reputable dance studio that teaches ballroom classes like waltz/tango? May wanna pop by for a quick lesson or two! Thanks for any info.. Looking forward to a great cebu experience!

Hi, I am planning a trip to Cebu in Nov. Probably I will leave Alona Beach on Nov 15 for Cebu by the morning ferry and stay in Cebu overnight for taking the afternoon flight to Manila on 16th. Is there any good advice on my 1 day stay in Cebu? Is better for me to live in Cebu city or go directly to the Mactan Island, then come out to the city for tour? Pls kindly give me some advice.
PS: how long and how much it would take from pier to the Mactan Island/city area/and from city area to the airport?
My friend and I are planning to visit Cebu (2nd week of Sept) ... the catch is we only have a day to do it. Our orig IT is Bohol but a friend tipped me that we can visit Cebu by taking a ferry on our 3rd day. We are more interested on island hopping rather than a city tour. We are looking into either a day trip, the most will be an overnight because we have to go back to tagbilaran the next day for our flight back to manila (our flight is around 1pm so I guess we have half day to travel back).
Can you guys be an angel and provide tips (umm... we are also on a budget)as to where to go, how to do it and how much it would cost? We are not really picky people and don't mind commuting (as long as we have enough directions on how to get to our destination). Sorry if I have too much questions... we just figured that it will be best to maximize our vacation since we hardly get out of work... hehehe...
My husband & I are planning to go to Cebu, Philippines for a vacation in March of 2008. Does anyone of you know of any travel agent/agency that can offer me a good deal for 2 round trip tickets from St. Louis to Cebu, maybe via Cathay Pacific or EVA? I appreciate it.
