Flying into Pittsburgh wk end of Sep 12th cost of taxi to Station Square & what to do?  (4 Answers)

We are flying into Pittsburgh on the week end of Sep 12th and what would you estimate the cost of taxi to Station Square? We are going to see the Pirates play and what else would to do? In the triangle on Market Square, there was an old bar, does it still exist? Do they still have piano music in the lobby at night at the William Penn?
Any suggestions on what to see and do are appreciated.

Halloween Weekend  (3 Answers)

Hello,

A group of ladies and I are traveling up to Pittsburgh for the Ravens vs. Steelers game on Nov.2 for her bachelorette party. We will be there all weekend and partially during the week, of course almost none of us have been there before. Wanted to know what would be fun around the area to do this weekend? How the weather is normally like? We are looking for the full Steeler Experience! Staying at the Doubletree GreenTree

Hopefully someone can help!

Getting back to the airport after the Steeler game  (10 Answers)

Traveling from Houston to go see the Steelers play on September 28th. I have a 6:35 flight leaving after the game.....am I cutting it too close or could I possibly make it happen? If so, what's the best route to take? Do's and don'ts? I'm guessing I'll have to leave my backpack at the hotel (Hampton Inn)....any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hotel near Carnegie Mellon  (4 Answers)

Hi all. I'm planning a stay in Pittsburgh to visit my nephew at Carnegie Mellon. I've narrowed the hotels down to the Hilton Garden Inn in Oakland and the Marriott Courtyard in Shadyside (don't ask me about my winnowing criteria). Anyone familiar with these neighborhoods or hotels to help me tip the balance one way or another? Thanks much.

points of interest  (4 Answers)

I have a 2-day visit to Pittsburgh. Hope to spend one day out of the city. What are the most recommended attractions within a one-hour drive (or so)?
Also, I am overwhelmed by the lists of city must-do places. And I realize everyone has different ideas. But was are the absolute MUST see/do in the city. (not too energy intensive as one of us is a senior)
Thanks!
Also looking for reasonably price accommodations near Carnegie Mellon University. Have been unsuccessful so far!
Thanks again!

family friendly, inexpensive hotel  (3 Answers)

We're traveling to PIttsburgh with another couple and our/their children for a weekend getaway. Planning on going to the zoo, aviary, conservatory and possibly the children's museum. Looking for a hotel that won't break the bank. we are driving ourselves, and don't mind being outside of the city. We'd love a hotel with an indoor pool, connecting rooms and maybe a small table so the adults can sit and have a glass of wine/beer after we put the kids to bed! Recommendations on an area to look or specific hotel?

Hotel with view  (1 Answer)

I'm looking for a hotel with a view, and NOT one of the big vertical slabs downtown. Someplace in the city, with all those bluffs overlooking the rivers, there should be a small hotel or B&B with a nice view and fewer than 1000 guests. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
HB

Steelers vs Ravens Game  (2 Answers)

I will be coming to Pittsburg for the steelers and ravens game in October. I have never been to Pittsburgh before, the hotel I will be staying at has a shuttle from the airport. I am trying to decide if I should rent a car or not, but I dont want to be in a long traffic wait for the game. Should I rent a car or just use public transportation? Also what would be a good time to leave my hotel to get to the game in a timely and traffic avoiding manner? Thanks for any advice.

Taking the Incline?  (2 Answers)

Hi guys,

I will be in Pittsburgh a few hours, will it be possible for me to go up one of the inclines from a view of the city? How long would it take to get there, go up, admire the view, and go back down?

Also, which is the best incline to go up? Is there a significant difference in the view?

Thanks!
G

Moving to Pittsburgh  (11 Answers)

I just found out there is a strong possibility that my husband (and us!) may have to relocate to Pittsburgh. I have never been and know nothing about it, so obviously will be reading a lot on the web. One thing I'm not sure about as I start looking for places to live is the neighborhoods: what are the "good" neighborhoods and which ones should we stay away from? I'd love something a little historic or possibly a neighborhood with restaurants and shops within walking distance. Thanks!!

Travelling around Pittsburgh - Car or Public transit?  (9 Answers)

Hi,

I will be visiting Pittsburgh in May for the weekend. I was just wondering if it is cheaper to bring in my car from Toronto, or use the public transport there to see around the places.

Is there a daily pass kind of thing for the public transit?

Thanks

What a re places / activities of interest for children in or around Pittsburgh?  (9 Answers)

my family and our family friends (10 people in all) are planning to drive to Pittsburgh next week for 3-4 days. the children range in ages from 6 years to 16. although my friend and i will be at Tangers and other retail malls in and around Pittsburgh, children will like to be visiting places and interests of their liking. are there any theme parks (amusement / ride parks), canoeing / kayaking / boating, rafting, etc. in or near Pittsburgh. i am sure children will like a cruise in the rivers of the city, but what could be other attractions?

First Visit  (6 Answers)

Hi All!

My boyfriend and I will be visiting Pittsburgh for the first time from May 22 - 24. We'll probably only actually have a couple of days in the city as we'll be spending time with family on the Saturday. Any suggestions on things to do and the best places to eat? We are big into food so suggestions for all meals would be great! We love to walk and explore, I'm big into photography when I travel and like I mentioned, food is always good.

I was thinking of hitting up the Pittsburgh flea market on the Sunday morning. Is it worth the trip (I'm into neat finds and antiques).

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Kerry
