I'm travelling alone and I've booked an aircraft seat on the overnight ferry from Patras to Bari. I'm a little worried about about my stuff getting stolen. Can anyone tell me their experiences or any tips on how I can go to the toilet without taking everything with me!
The main piece of advice is just to keep anything valuable with you - money, passport etc.
I've got to say that theft while on the ferry is highly unlikely, mainly due to the cost of the ferry. A thief would need to pay the €50+ ticket price. It is unlikely that they would make this money back by selling other people's laundry.
The best solution is friendship with your neighbors. Exchange smiles, cookies, magazins... that's all. If you don't feel comfortable with your neighbors, a little after the depart from the port you can try to change seat and find some more attractive company. It is unlikely to have professional thieves on board, but amateurs can always be anywhere. Precaution is always wise.
