Thanks for the tip! In terms of young areas with lots of bars what part of Paris would that be?

Todays "yuppie" area is principally N/E of the Bastille, known as the Marais. Around rue du Temple, rue des Archives, rue des Rosiers, rue des Blancs Manteaux, inside that sort of square. Another area that is on the up and up is around rue Oberkampf and rue J-P Timbaud, up towards Belleville. If you are around the Bastille, try rue de Lappe and the rue de Charonne, for a slightly "risqué" feel. This is where the old "apache" bars and accordian clubs were, now very much more modern.

You might also want to type Paris into the VT search window above and check the restaurants section. The reviews often give an idea of local atmosphere. You can type something like cool bars or happening bars into the Search Window and then choose Keyword Search for more options. There is a lot of information here you can get outside of the forums. You'll have photos and outside web links to help.

Enjoy Paris.
