Looking for some suggestions please!
There are approx 14 of us looking for a holiday cottage or complex with a couple of cottages that we could rent for a long weekend at the end of Feb next year. We are looking at the Oxfordshire area as it is quite central for everyone to travel to but it doesn't have to be close to anywhere in particular.
Any and all suggestions welcome!
Anyone with experience w/ the Oxford Folk Fest in April?
Worth the trip? Too many crazies in one place? or a good weekend to slip in and see the rest of Oxford?
We are taking my Mother and Father in-law to Silverstone to watch bike racing in September & are not too sure where to stay. We want to be within 10-20 miles of the circuit and be somewhere that has shopping for the ladies, more market town than shopping mall.
We also require some good restaurants & a nice quaint hotel.
I have Bicester in my head but not sure if it would be suitable.
Is there bus transportation from somewhere in England to Uffington? Thank you
I’m planning a trip with my wife to Oxford this weekend. As this is our first time in the city is there anything which we must not miss? And can anyone recommend any good restaurants?
We're planning a weekend break during late November or early December time for 2 youngish couples! Can anyone recommend accommodation. We're looking for the Olde English setup of Country pubs/hotels with an open fire and nice cosy surroundings, in a lovely rural area with nice walks to good old country pubs. Any recommendations greatly received. Thanks
I know I posted a similar question just hours ago, but still... Is anyone going to be in Oxford from 14th-28th July?? Does anyone know the Aspect college - what is the school like etc.? What about the night life in Oxford?
Thx for ur answers,
I hope I'm not too late for this & someone will answer. This Saturday (14th July) I'm going to Oxford. I'll stay there for 2 weeks & I'll take an English course at the Aspect college. Has anyone already been there? I'll be staying with a host family that lives in the Rose Hill area. I've read that this area has many social prbs (unemployment, drug abuse, street crime,...) - is all this true? Does anyone know sth more about it?
Thx 4 your answers,
My husband is due to soon start working at HMPS Bullingdon and, Chris-stylee, has nowhere to live/stay. Does anyone have any ideas of a good place to start looking?
Thanks for your advice on places to visit, etc. :) Now, I have no idea what to pack! (especially for clothing)
I plan on backpacking/travelling on weekends to other parts of england and europe. Any suggestions on essentials for backpacking? ex: clothing, money (best way to keep it safe/hidden from pickpockets) travelers checks, voltage converters...things like that..
Also any great way to save money or get deals on travel/hostels, etc? (I already have an ISIC card.)
I also don't have a backpack yet and was wondering if there are any preferences...
Thanks for the tidbits of information about Oxfordshire. Any little bit helps. It's good to know a little bit what to expect. I will be staying in Cumnor Hill, So any information about that would be great! :)
Hi! I'm a student from N.S.Canada and I'll be coming to Oxfordshire in January to live, possibly for a year, as a nanny. Just wondering if there is any advise out there for me :) For example: weather, hot spots, people.. things along those lines. Thanks!
Hi again!how are you all?
great sunny friday in madrid!...
Does anybody know a cheap place to stay (hostelling, under the bridge, welcoming people who could invite me to their houses... he, he) for the first days until I'd found a room?
have a nice day!
my name is laura. I live in madrid but I intend to settle in oxford for a while from october. I'm trying to get an environmental job but not easy, so I'll start with anything else. If anyone has any advice to give me I'll be really gratefull.
I've nowhere to live neither, and I'm looking for something cheap (as everybody, I guess, ha, ha). I'll be glad to share a house or a room, as I prefer to leave with people. Does anybody need a room-mate for the beginning of october?
I speak spanish, french and this sort of english (I hope I'll improve it in those months!!)
have you all a good day!
I will be in Wallingford from July to September for my summer job. I have been looking for aparment or shared house in that area for quite a while, but couldnt find anything I need. Could anyone please give me some suggestion?
From the map, Wallingford seems not far from Oxford or Readings. Would it be possible for me to live there and travel to wallingford everyday? I havent been to Wallingford, so I am not very sure how far they are apart.
Any other thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks a lot.
Can anyone recommend a good b&b in the wantage area? Thanks
Hi, I'll be in Oxford at the end of May and would like to go the Tuesday market in Moreton. I won't have a car. So I have some questions and I hope someone here will be able to give me some additional information. There is a bus from Oxford to Chipping Norton. Can I change there into a bus going to Moreton? How long is the market open, morning only or all day? And once I'm there, is there another public bus going to Stow-on-the-Wold and Bourton-on-the-Water? I found some websites about public transportation, but they're from 2001 and no longer valid. Has anyone ever done this trip on public transportation? Do you think it can be done in one day? I could spend the night from Tuesday to Wednesday in Moreton, but I need to be back in Oxford Wednesday , early afternoon at the latest. I'd appreciate any information. Thank you. Barbara
