Places to visit between Dearborn MI & Clivelend OH  (7 Answers)

Next month we will be for 12 days in Michigen, we would spend 4 days visiting family friend in Cliveland. We will be driving and altho the drive is about 3 hrs is very boring, specially the turnpike.
So we were thinking of stopping somewhere between both Cities for a lunch and look see.. can you suggest somewhere interesting not faraway from the motorway?
We are taking interstate 75 and packing up the Turnpike at Toledo all the way to Cliveland.
any suggestions are very welcome. Many thanks

Amish  (1 Answer)

Could anyone please compare the lancaster Pa to the Dover/Berlin area amish areas. Would like to take a group of seniors on a motorcoach tour to one or the other. Which would be best for culture/way of life, country tour and of course eating. The Ohio area would be closer for us but don't know how it compares to the Lancaster pa or the Shipshewana In areas. Thanks for any help.

Marriage in Cleveland and in Tucson 3 weeks later.  (4 Answers)

Dear reader, I'm writing you as you have been on VT's network not too long ago.
I'm looking for possibilities; here is why: This year in September 2 daughters of old friends of ours, (used to live in Holland) will get married; the first marriage is in Cleveland Ohio and the secand one will marry in Tucson Arizona three weeks later. My idea is to fly from Holland to Cleveland, rent (or buy) a camper (RV) and drive to Tucson. I would leave (or sell) the RV there and fly from Phoenix back to Holland.
My question: do you know of the availability of companies (or persons) wanting
to rent or sell a camper to me. If I look at the internet, Chicago is the
nearest place where I can rent an RV and leave it in Phoenix.
Hopefully I can have an early response from you. All the best, enjoy life!. Jan

Lake Erie Coastal Scenic Byway (Cleveland to Toledo)  (3 Answers)

During the fist week of April my mom and I are going on a road trip. Towards the end of it we will be driving through Ohio. We will be coming from VA, North on HW 77. Driving up that until we hit Cleveland. Once we get to Cleveland or around the area we plan to stay in a hotel for the night. From here we plan to drive along Lake Erie. Here is where my questions come in to play... what are the must see places along Lake Erie from Cleveland to Toledo? Also is the best route to take the Lake Erie Coastal Scenic Byway?

We want to see some of the lake, beaches, lighthouses, outdoors type stuff. Mostly we are looking for things that won't cost money because we are on a tight budget(and that type of stuff really doesn't anyways). It will be a trip made in one day though! Any suggestions are very highly appreciated! Also, any really, really good places to eat along the way in there?? Either leave me on here or send me a message!

Thanks to anyone who will take the time to give me any ideas!

Salt Fork State Park, Guernsey County, Ohio

We will be staying at the park from Nov. 3rd to Nov. 5th and would like to have some interesting things to do. Are we near Amish country? Is Guernsey Co. and Holmes Co. close in proximity? What other sites are there to visit or tour? We have never been to this part of Ohio before and would like to make the most of our time.

Driving times?  (2 Answers)

Hi All,

Hoping for a little advice / local knowledge regarding a trip I have planned this weekend. I'm flying from Sydney to LAX and on to Ohio to see my beloved Bengals play in Cincinnatti (I know - but they ARE much better now!!!). Unfortunately in order to save some$ I purchased a LAX - Columbus flight and planned to simply hire a car in Columbus and drive down to Cincy. I arrive in Columbus at 4pm Saturday and fly out at 1045am Monday.

My "original" plan was to stay both Sat and Sun night in Cincinnati and make the drive back to Columbus Monday morning. I spoke to a buddy however who suggested Monday morning traffic might make this difficult.

The end result is I CANT miss my flight as Im connecting to an international return soon afterwards but would really like to stay in Cincy after the game (Few celebratory beers).

Questions therefore:

1. Drive time between Columbus and Cincy and is it in any way difficult.

2. Is staying in Cincy Sunday night "doable" and what time would you suggest I leave Monday morning to ensure I get to Columbus airport well in advance of my flight out?

Many thanks in advance.

Stuart

looking for  (6 Answers)

Hi,
I wonder if anyone can help me. I am looking for someone named RONNIE HALL (may not be his real name, may be a stage name) who was a singer and worked in Newcastle upon Tyne England many years ago. He had a relationship with a Wendy Dey (may called herself Wendy Trainer) and they had a baby girl. The girl grew up thinking someone else was her natural father. She would like to trace Ronnie Hall and other family members to chat too and so she can discover her true roots. She is a mother herself now and feels there is a missing link in her life which she would LOVE to fill.
If anyone can help me I would be very grateful and so would she.

Slippery Rock Camping and Hiking

I am planning to take a long weekend in July and go camping in the area of the Slippery Rock River (Northeast Ohio by PA border). I have run the Slippery Rock kayaking a couple times, but have never camped or hiked in the area. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for campgrounds and trails (daypacking moderate to strenuous). We are not the KOA types, but my wife does enjoy running water and showers. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Great Ohio VT gathering.  (11 Answers)

Okay, I decided to start a thread about this here in the forums, for those whom have been playing email-tag; seems easier to coordinate thoughts, ideas, etc. Again, Voyageuse30 tossed out the idea for a gathering in Miamisburg, near Dayton, on June 12th at 1pm.

Continue the discussion! :)

Party Island?!?!  (3 Answers)

About 2 years ago I met a guy who had moved here from Ohio, and he kept talking about this island (from what I can remember) I assume in whichever great lake is at the northern part of Ohio...HAHA He said it was awesome...you had to take a boat to get there and it was like this HUGE party ALL THE TIME. Well, it has intrigued me for a while now, and he has since moved back to Ohio and we have lost touch. I am hoping to visit Ohio soon (before it gets cold) and I really wanted to check this place out. Anyone have a clue where this place is?!?! I know this is quite random but I can't for the life of me remember where he said it was. Thanks!!
