13th October I am hoping to have one day to take in some sights of Nuremberg and then the following morning 14th October I want to get a train to Budapest and then get myself to Budapest Port Pier Mahart Drava 2. by late afternoon.
Is this doable? Which hotels would I look at in Nuremberg to overnight and be handy for train departure early next morning. Which train would I get and do I have to change trains anywhere? How do I then get from train station in Budapest to the Port? If this is not doable I would need to skip Nuremberg and go straight to Budapest and overnight Budapest. Any help would be much appreciated. aussie first time traveller to europe.
Hi We are Australians and on the 13th Oct at 9am we arrive by river boat at Nuremberg. We have another cruise departing Budapest the next day the 14th Oct and check in starts at 3pm. How best and when to travel suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Ian
Could you please recommend a restaurant where we can have a family dinner to celebrate a birthday. I would prefer it value for money place. Local cuisine (but not obligatory), may be with some cozy (or interesting) atmosphere. I'm more interested in dessert-menu, but my male part of the family will be more interested in meat :)
We'll be staying not far from Franken Str., but any plce within the ring will do.
If this is important, it will be August.
would the train coming from Praque give us time to change trains at Nurenberg as we are going to frankfurt in the allotted time of ten minutes and how do you get to the frankfurt platform
I believe we were walking through a car park when I took a photo of a "tower" with statues of two men atop, one red and one blue, back to back, both with binoculars, looking out over the terrain. I didn't think to look (or ask) what it was about. Has anyone any clues please?
Is there a bus to catch from Nurnberg to Geiselwind? If there is one, from which bus station does it leave?
Dear Forum, we will be in Nuremberg for Christmas Market Dec 17th - 22nd, family of 5 with 3 kids 8, 10 and 13. We are trying to decide between Hotel Sorat and Burghotel. Both have great reviews. Hotel Sorat is closer to Xmas market and modern but offers only separate rooms while Burghotel offers 3 bedroom apartment living so everyone together.
Just wondering if anyone has hand-on experience with both to help break the deadlock. Thanks
How does one get to the river boat dock "hafenstrasse, anliegestelle fur Kabinenschiffe" from the central bus/train station or Bahnhofstratte street? Is there a bus line that takes you close to the docking area.
What is the best bus or tour to take from Nuremberg to Salzburg?
Hi. If someone wants to visit the sites of Luitpoldhain and Zeppelinfeld, are these places open spaces that can be visited anytime or one should visit them during the opening hours of the Congress Hall? And pls tell me for someone who doesn't speak english (nor german either0, do you think that the material of the exhibition at the Congress Hall is worth the visit? I mean, are the photo material and the videos understandable without understanding the words? Thanks.
I have marked some very beautiful spots in Nurnberg but what about this 'Kettensteg"? I don't mean the restaurant but the complex with the bridges and the beautiful scenery(coordinates 49.45449, 11.07087). How can one reach this place? There seem to be some stairs going down (coordinates 49.45501, 11.07039). Is this the way to see it better? Thank you.
Hallo. Pls tell me if outside the Hdf there is an underground passage that gets us on the other side of the road, outside the old gate? Or even better, leading at the back of the old tower, getting out at Konigstrasse? I hope you've understood my question. Thank you.
How can we get from Nurnberg to Rothenberg ob der Tauber without renting a car?
We have two days in Nuremberg, staying at the Le Meridien Grand Hotel. Can anyone suggest an itinerary for us?
I am looking to take a tour of the Medieval Dungeons in Nurnberg. We will be there late afternoon of Fri Sept 18th. We are free for the tour either 5pm on Fri 18th, 4pm on Sat 19th, or Early morning 9am on Sun 20th. We need the tour to be in English. Is there anywhere I can find a tour. I want of the Dungeons not the beer cellar, unless they are the same thing. Any help would be appreciated.
We are staying in Nuremberg for 2 days and would like to visit the Eagles Nest. Are there any tours from Nuremberg? What is the best way to get there?
How do I get from downtown to the place where Viking River Cruises embarks passengers?
I was in October and went into a shop on a back street that was located on a corner and had of all things, Yankee Candles. They had lots of great gifts and more upscale art in the basement. I am trying to locate the name/contact info in order to purchase something I should have gotten while there. Any ideas????
Are there any shops around Frauenkirche that we can buy some nature body lotion or soap that is made in Germany such as Weleda, BABOR, Schaebens and Dr. Hauschka?
me and my wife are staying in nurnberg from 10-12/ november. Are there any classy clubs/restaurants/bars/parties for swingers?
Planning 2½-3 days based in Nuremberg during the first week of December.
One day planned for Bamberg, one day for Rothenburg and one day for Nuremberg.
The impression I get from travel forums is the the Nuremberg Xmas market is one of the better (and bigger) ones in Germany. There are also Xmas markets in Bamberg and Rothenburg.
My question is: From personal experience, would you try to spend as much time as possible at the Nuremberg market at the expense of time in the Bamberg and Rothenburg markets? That is, should I leave Bamberg/Rothenburg for Nuremberg relatively early (15:00-16:00) after seeing their respective markets, in order to have more time at the Nuremberg market? I know the Nuremberg market is open until 21:00. How would you divide your time?
Planning 2 separate day trips (with wife) to Bamberg and Rothenburg from the Leipziger Platz area of Nuremberg.
Originally, I planned to use my DB 'twin pass' to each destination, since the cost for the added days is much cheaper than individual train tickets for the 2 of us. However, now I see another option: The VGN Day Ticket (price level 10). According to the VGN web site, the one ticket costs €17.50 and is good for the both of us, that is, it is a 'twin' ticket in our case.
(1) Can someone from the Nuremberg area confirm that the VGN Day Ticket includes both Bamberg and Rothenburg and that it would indeed cost us only €17.50 per day for BOTH of us?
(2) I understand from the site that the VGN Day Ticket includes all travel on the Nuremberg area U-bahn, S-bahn, and buses, so that with that ticket we can both travel from Leipziger Platz to the Nuremberg Hbf, then to Bamberg or Rothenburg, return to Leipziger Platz in Nuremberg, then go out for that same evening somewhere in Nuremberg - all costing us only €17.50?
(3) If the above is correct, where can one buy the VGN Day Ticket? At any U- or S-bahn station?
(4) Getting to Rothenburg by train is somewhat of a nuisance and inefficient, as one has to transfer TWICE for such a short journey. Is there an alternate public transport way to get there (e.g., bus) which is direct and also included in the VGN Day Ticket?
I thank you very much.
Staying 3 nights. Looking for centrally located (Xmas market, train station) hotel or B&B (Zimmer Frei) for up to €80/night, 2 people with breakfast. Nothing fancy required - just clean and quiet. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Is there any Mass in English on Christmas Day in Nuremberg? Doubt it very much....
I am travelling by hitch hike from Croatia to Berlin, my stop will be Nurnberg, i was wondering can someone tell me how often people are hitchhiking in Nurnberg, what is the best place to catch someone to drive you to Berlin, and in case i cannot find anyone, what is the bus tickets ?

We will be arriving in Nürnberg (late June) via Viking Cruise Line, and traveling on to Prague. Because we are taking a diversion from the Viking package, we will be on our own regarding transportation to the Nürnberg train or bus station. Can anybody in the VT community tell us how to get from the boat docks to the central stations?
Are their any interesting sights, places or cities that we should consider stopping at as we drive from Niremburg to Munich?
Which P+R will be the most convenient if I will drive from Regnesburg to Metz? I guess there is not so wise to go into the center of Nurnberg by car. Is that right? As soon as we are in the center we probably better use feet than a public transport ;-). So as a group of three we need 6 S/U Bahn tickets. Is it possible to buy 5-rides tickets as a bulk an one regular?
Any recommendation for a fast food like exotic (not kebab ;-) or real Bavarian in the Old City more for locals than for tourists? Can you get something warm, good and interesting at butcher shops at lunch?
Is there not so obvious place in the old town which is interesting to see?
