Hi! I am planning a trip to North Manitou with a mid size group, perhaps 5-10 people, possibly including two kids ages 7 and 8. I would love to do a 2 night trip but I have a feeling I will get a better response for a 1 nighter for various reasons. So my question is... is there a recommended route for the following schedule: after getting off the ferry, doing a mid-length hike (maybe 8 miles max), while seeing some nice lookouts, swimming at a nice beach (or in the one of the inland lakes?), and then camping in a relatively quiet place with few bugs, with the goal of having a shorter hike in the morning to get back in time for the ferry back to Leland with time to spare? I saw that someone recommend camping at the Village for the last night, but since I want to plan only 1 night, that won't work because part of the fun will be the backcountry camping aspect.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!
