Hotels info required  (1 Answer)

Could someone please refer me hotels suitable for families in Abbottabad, Naran & Shogran. I have mentioned some points below that might give an idea of what I am expecting:

* Suitable for families with a safe, decent and friendly environment.
* For 3-4 people per room (extra mattress is acceptable).
* The rooms should be neat and clean.
* Neat and Clean washrooms with Commode & hot water available.
* Restaurant with good food.

If possible then please provide the tariffs or rates for the hotels too. And also if someone has pictures of the hotel rooms, then that will be of great help.

Another thing, there are kinda rest houses, lodges, holiday homes, etc also present in these areas. If anyone knows about any of these which is suitable for a family group consisting of 20+ members, please mention that too (rates, pictures). I am very much interested in that option as well.

Where to go in early December?  (10 Answers)

Hey Guys!

I am planning to visit different sights like NWFP/Punjab/Kashmir in the first week of December. Problem is the weather, snow fall, road blockage etc. I don't want to visit meuseum kinda stuff. I am only interested in exploring mountains, lakes, lush green sites etc.

Would anyone guide me where to go and how? I am planning to go with my family and also have an infant with me.

Please help.

Two 70 yr old ladies going to the Northern area  (1 Answer)

No, they're not going trekking. They will be visiting a dear friend in a village called Morkhun.
Do you know the place? They will be with 4 others in the group. They will be met in Islamabad by their Pakistani friend, spend one night in ISB then fly to Gilgit the next day. In Gilgit they will rent a van and drive to Morkhun. My question is: should we try to make as many reservations(hotels/jeep/van) as we can from here (Japan) through a tour operator in Islamabad and take comfort in knowing that arrangements are in place even though a little expensive, OR have our friend come and meet us in ISB and make the arrangements on the spot? Would this be cheaper since he is Pakistani and he'll know how to bargain and will know what is reasonable? But, since the dates are 8/2 to 8/11, is there a chance hotels and car rentals will be fully booked, etc. What would you advise? Thank you in advance.

Shandoor Pass Polo Tournament - any information?  (5 Answers)

Hi everyone,

I will be arriving in Islamabad on 4th July and I'm hoping to attend the Shandoor Pass Polo Tournament - I understand the dates are 7th - 9th July. Can anyone help me with information on the best transport to and from the tournament, and arrangements on the pass?

Do I need to take my own tent, sleeping bag, food or can I arrange that?? My preference is to travel 'light'.

I also understand it is quite cold up on the pass - is that correct?

I should mention I am female, travelling on my own, first time in Pakistan and this is the start of 3 weeks travelling around Northern Pakistan that I'm really looking forward to!

Any advice appreciated.

Jeep Hire for KKH  (1 Answer)

Myself and friend are looking to travel North up KKH and hoping to do it by jeep so we have a bit of freedom on where we go. Does anyone have any advice on who to contact to get one - does the fact that it is going to be a one way trip make it much harder or is there an agency with branches each end of the KKH?! Cheers, Dave
