Help with Trip to Normandy/Brittany France  (3 Answers)

We're thinking of a week's stay in Normandy and/or Brittany. Could someone advise me about the easiest way to get there from London via Eurostar (to Calais?). Can we rent a car there or is there another place that would be better? Any hotel suggestions would also be appreciated. I think the trip would be in early June, hopefully not a busy, busy tourist time. Thanks for any advice.

How to get from the Eurostar terminal in Calais to Wissant?  (3 Answers)

Hi, my partner is travelling to Wissant next weekend and won't have a car. He's taking the Eurostar to Calais but has no idea how to get to Wissant. He's been told there are no trains, but does anyone know if there's a bus which runs nearby? Or is a taxi the only option? (if so, how much is that likely to cost?)

Thanks!!

I am considering a trip to Nausicaa in Boulogne. I am starting in Dover and am likely to be travelling by P & O as a foot passenger. I was just wondering how long the journey from Calais Ville train station to Bolougne ville station takes via train and how much 2 adult return tickets are likely to cost.

Thanks

ferry to Dover and train beyond  (2 Answers)

I saw some older postings about this topic, but I wanted more updated info.
I am in process of planning a possible trip to Belgium & northern France. One of the things I might sqeaze in for a day (if feasible) is a ferry trip from Calais to Dover & train to Canterbury and back same day. Is this a possibility? Does it make sense for one day? I don't wish to travel to London, just Canterbury to see the cathedral and town.

Campsites near Calais  (3 Answers)

Hi
Can anyone recommend a campsite in or near Calais/St Omer/A26(heading to Reims next day). Arriving by eurotunnel with husband and 2 young children at about 8pm so want one as close to these places as possible. So long as shower/toilet block is clean we're not to bothered about other facilities on offer as it is only a one night stopover.
Thanks

Looking for days out  (4 Answers)

Hi Everybody,

We will be staying in Chamagne-de-Hesdin for a week fromt the 23rd of September. We are already planning 2 days out: one to Paris and one to Brugges, both of which will involve quite a lot of driving.
Please oculd you reccomend other days out in the area perhaps no more than 30 minute drive, We are a family of 2 adults and our 4 yr old son.
And the1,000,000 question - what do you reckon the weather will be like? Is it T-shirts and shorts or woollen mittens?
If anybody would like to email weather reports nearer the time I would be really appreciative
Thank you all kindy in anticipation of your input
Regards

Steve (& family)

BE WARNED

Hi
Have just returned from a day trip to France and Belgium. This is something we do 4 or 5 times every year (usually without any problems), to stock up on wine, beer, cigarettes and tobacco etc and despite taking every precaution we had our goods stolen from our car. After landing in France, thought the Channel Tunnel, we drove up the coast to Belgium to get our tobacco etc. After purchasing our goods and making shore every thing of value was in the boot and out of view, we returned to Calais for lunch. We parked the car, opened the boot of the car to get our coats out, and this is when we think somebody must have been watching us, secured the car once more and went for lunch. On our return the rear passenger door window had been smashed, the percal shelf ripped up and all the tobacco gone. So even though the goods were in the locked boot, out of view, they still managed to take our goods. So my warning is, even though your goods are out of view be careful when opening the boot as someone might be watching.
Dave
PS The local police did'nt want to know.

How do I get from Calais (Eurostar terminal) to Wissant  (1 Answer)

Thanks

Driving between Paris and Brugge

We will be travelling from Paris to Brugge - but would like to spend one night somewhere in between. We would like to rent a car and just explore. We love small villages, pretty drives, quaint towns, etc.

Any suggestions for spots we can explore and then stay for one night? I was thinking either in Normandy or Northern France/Lille area - somewhere close enough to drive to Brugge the next day.

Country Restaurants

Will be in Northern France for the day on Saturday 4th March. We normally have a lunchtime meal in Calais, but would like to try somewhere in the country. Could any one recommend a nice restaurant in a village or small town within a 30-mile radius of Calais? Or anywhere between Calais and the Belgium border.
