We're thinking of a week's stay in Normandy and/or Brittany. Could someone advise me about the easiest way to get there from London via Eurostar (to Calais?). Can we rent a car there or is there another place that would be better? Any hotel suggestions would also be appreciated. I think the trip would be in early June, hopefully not a busy, busy tourist time. Thanks for any advice.

He's been told there are no trains, but does anyone know if there's a bus which runs nearby? Or is a taxi the only option? (if so, how much is that likely to cost?)

I am considering a trip to Nausicaa in Boulogne. I am starting in Dover and am likely to be travelling by P & O as a foot passenger. I saw some older postings about this topic, but I wanted more updated info.
I am in process of planning a possible trip to Belgium & northern France. One of the things I might sqeaze in for a day (if feasible) is a ferry trip from Calais to Dover & train to Canterbury and back same day. Is this a possibility? Does it make sense for one day? I don't wish to travel to London, just Canterbury to see the cathedral and town.

Have just returned from a day trip to France and Belgium. This is something we do 4 or 5 times every year (usually without any problems), to stock up on wine, beer, cigarettes and tobacco etc and despite taking every precaution we had our goods stolen from our car. After landing in France, thought the Channel Tunnel, we drove up the coast to Belgium to get our tobacco etc. After purchasing our goods and making shore every thing of value was in the boot and out of view, we returned to Calais for lunch. We parked the car, opened the boot of the car to get our coats out, and this is when we think somebody must have been watching us, secured the car once more and went for lunch. On our return the rear passenger door window had been smashed, the percal shelf ripped up and all the tobacco gone. So even though the goods were in the locked boot, out of view, they still managed to take our goods. So my warning is, even though your goods are out of view be careful when opening the boot as someone might be watching.
PS The local police did'nt want to know.
I will be visiting Wissant and taking the Eurostar to Calais. How do I get to Wissant from Calais without a car? Is there a train link from Calais, or bus or would I have to rely on a taxi?
We will be travelling from Paris to Brugge - but would like to spend one night somewhere in between. We would like to rent a car and just explore. We love small villages, pretty drives, quaint towns, etc.
Any suggestions for spots we can explore and then stay for one night? I was thinking either in Normandy or Northern France/Lille area - somewhere close enough to drive to Brugge the next day.
Will be in Northern France for the day on Saturday 4th March. We normally have a lunchtime meal in Calais, but would like to try somewhere in the country. Could any one recommend a nice restaurant in a village or small town within a 30-mile radius of Calais? Or anywhere between Calais and the Belgium border.
