Has anyone taken the ferry from Nice to Corsica? I have a few questions.
Are restaurants, shops in geneal and points of interest open?
What is the livliest city to visit in January or February?
Does one need a car to get around?
Does anyone know the best and possibly the cheapest way to get from Nice to St Tropez in the month of November?
I read the following toay, October 11, on Riveria Radio.
"Médecins du Monde along with several other associations has formally called for France to reopen its French-Italian border."
Does this mean the border is closed and tourists cannot travel from Nice to Ventimiglia.
My wife and I are renting in Nice this winter. We were wondering if anyone has used Ashley & Parker as a rental agent and if so was it a good experience. We have looked for reviews of the company but have come up empty.
Hi folks! Don’t laugh!!!
Yes, we Russians are badly salaried, but can get quite extravagant when our long-waited-for vacations are nearly ruined.
Where do I get a very inexpensive but very usable TV-set in Nice? Buy or rent?
And how do I get it connected?
And how do I do it very urgently, because I am really furious at the prospect of forgetting how the French TV anchors look in France, while I can easily see the in my TV in Moscow.
(Actually, this is not the only and not the main problem that made me the most furious of all time through my 10 years vacationing in Nice, but that’s another story)
The provider in the apartment is called ‘numericable’ - there is Internet, and, I guess, there must be a connection to cable TV, if there were a TV-set here. I have already contacted their online ‘chatterbox’, she is a machine and solves no problem, even as I wrote in pretty sensible French.
P.S. The parent company is SFR – I guess they have an office at Jean Medecine, or around. WIKI says they are the ‘leading provider’ in France.
I’ll be d---d, really, if I do not find a TV-set, get it going and leave as a present to the owner! I can understand that one can have no functioning tea kettle, no single pot that matching any cover, but no TV – that’s too much. What am I supposed to do at night – go to a night club?
Need advice about the closest public beach to rue Tondutti.
I am used to Beau Rivage – mainly because it has a toilet and cabanas. I consider now Plage Castel, but a bit afraid to find myself on the rocks (literally).
Any supermarket around open on Sunday? The only I remember is the good old Spar in rue Macarani (or is it Macaroni :)), but that’s a bit far. Maybe Casino or Monoprix will think of making a profit with the high season?
Anything new in general? I mean, after I found Gare Routiere and the old fountains completely demolished, I can expect any surprise… Last year they were digging the earth for a tram station right opposite the place in rue Tondutti where I am going to stay. I wonder how things stand now; hope I won’t have to put my earplugs on with the construction noise…
Sorry if this appears twice - had a #404 the first time (and actually the second time, too!) - apparently because I use Word spelling proof
We are flying to Nice, but leaving to Marseille as fast as we can (we will visit Nice before flight back home). Our rent lady wants to know when we will arrive to Marseille allready. The trip is at september. But someone just told that because of the strikes in trainsystems, we should not book the tickets yet.
Now I´m not sure what to do. Should I book or not. And if our flight lands at 9.10 (in the morning) , when we could think to be going to train?
There seems to be straight bus connection to Marseille from airport, but I haven´t seen any info about how long the bus takes to Marseille. If it isn´t VERY much slower, it could be a good option too. Expesially if there are strikes in trains.
Years ago we ate in a restaurant in Nice that was owned by an elderly woman and her sister or daughter (can't quite remember). It was in the old town and it was very basic, I don't think there was even a menu, you just ate what you were served. It was all local, homemade food. Can anyone tell me the name of the restaurant and whether or not it's still there?
We are staying in the Alpes Maritimes but would like to make a couple of day trips to Nice during our stay. I see that there are park and ride type car parks but I have looked at the website and I am an idiot when it comes to these things so I cannot figure out where the car parks are! If I am traveling down the Blvd du Mercantour, where is the best place to park and get a bus in to the city centre (say, Promenade des Anglais)?

Hi. We just planned a quick trip to Nice and will be there for the carnival. Haven't done any major research this time so had a few questions in mind.
1) Is there a free walking tour in Nice around this time?
2) What the weather like? (Need to pack)
3) Which are the other places around Nice that are a must visit.

We are planing a weekend break to Nice during the carnival in Feb 16. Does the carnival dominate everything and is something not to be missed or are we better off postponing the trip till march to see everything Nice has to offer?
