Accommodation Suggestions  (5 Answers)

We are visiting Malaysia for the first-time and would like to take a relaxing holiday for a week to ten-days in a beachside village/small town (July 2-12, 2011). We saw some amazing pictures of the area in 'off the beaten path.' Would appreciate recommendation for a private rental for 2; budget100-150nt. Don't want to stay in hotels offering package holidays. Many thanks.

I am interested in visiting Kenyir Lake but have 3 questions below:
1) Am coming from K. Terengganu. Are there any public buses to Kenyir Lake?

3) Has anyone stayed either at Kenyir Spa and Resort or at Musang Houseboat? Any comments about these places?

Driving to Kuala Besut Jetty  (1 Answer)

Hi

Please, which is a shorter journey to drive? From Ipoh to Besut Jetty,or from Kuala Lumpur? Which has better roads?

We have booked our package into Perhentian Island Resort, anyone stayed there before? Any tips?

Also, we dont have snorkeling package, but would like to try one while we are there? How much would that cost?

We need to be there on Tuesday, to check in? Wht time is it best to travel from either Ipoh or KL to catch the ferry? 5am would that be good?

Kenyir to Gua MUsang  (2 Answers)

G'day All,

i am planning a driving trip to Tasik Kenyir with the family and planning to hit Camerons Highlands after that. I guess that way is via Gua Musang and now the question!

My GPS is routing me North via route 3, 4, and then 8 to Gua Musang. However on my GPS i see a route T156 that goes west which links to 1744 which will hit route 8, but part of the road is close and there is a detour. Can anyone advise on the condition of that route?

Cheers

I'd like going to an island end of March for diving, I have few question  (1 Answer)

as I got some days at end of March, I would like to go to one of the islands of Negeri Terengganu and having some dives there.
I've been told it's right time to dive there [would it be true?], as far I know monsoon season should be ended, but is it still windy with high waves? how about currents? and water temperature... I have to decide which wetsuit I have to bring this me, xmm?
thanks :-)

Island / beach escapade  (2 Answers)

I'm planning to visit Terengganu on the 1st - 4th May '08. I'm looking forward to just relax by the beach and perhaps snorkel a bit. Due to the time constraint, I'm unsure about where to go.

1. Redang? Perhentian? Kapas? Gemia? Which of these islands are the easiest to get into? I'll be flying in via AirAsia, and would arrive late afternoon.

2. Any recommended hotels or resorts?

3. How safe are these islands? I'm a single lady, travelling alone.

Appreciate the input.

Thanks.

Perhentian without booking  (2 Answers)

Hi Guys. I will be in Perhentian in June and I was wondering if it's going to be difficult to find accommodation if I don't book in advance. I went to Perhentian in 2003, didn't have any booking and there was plenty of accommodation available, but is it still the case?
Thanks

going to perhentian in Sept  (3 Answers)

Hello All,

My company paid for a short holiday in singapore and was thinking to extend my stay in an exotic place for diving and relax. somebody told me that the closest and nicest is Perhentian island, as it is also protected from the heavy rain in Sept. I've been on the road so long, company just told me about the holiday and did not have any time to read and explore the posibilities. Besides, it is my very first time in Asia

May I kindly ask for your support to let me know from your experience how is it in Sept and if this is the real paradise for diving? If not a good idea, any other option somewhere near Singapore?

Thanks so much and wish you all great time and great holidays,

Oana

Where to Stay in Perhentian Kecil?

Hello,

I am planning on going to Perhentian Kecil in late august/early sept, and I will be traveling alone. So a few questions I hope you can all help me with:

1. Where to stay?
Since I'm traveling alone, I want to stay at a hostel where it is easy to meet fellow travelers. I'm also looking for a place that is clean and not too pricey. And (I may be pushing it), it'd be nice if the place was really close to the beach. Any recommendations?

2. How easy is it to meet other travelers on the islands?
How easy would it be to meet people on the island? And any suggestions as to where to try meet some new friends?

Thanks in advance!!!!

Bus from Singapore to Perhentian Islands  (3 Answers)

Hello,
we want to visit Perhentian Islands and are looking for an overnight bus from Singapore or Johor Bahru (Larkin Station) to Kuala Besut or Jerteh. Does anybody know of bus companies offering this route and their schedule? There used to be KKKL (obviously no more existent) and Transnasional, which could not help us with our enquiry though ...
Thanks for any help!

Perhentian or Redang?  (2 Answers)

Dear VTers,
I can't decide between going to Pulau perhentian or pulau redang. I'm looking for white sandy beach, not a crowded place, snorkeling and scuba diving, and will be traveling in a group of 9 people.
So which one is better?

Thanks,
P

Pulau Redang, Perhentian or Lang tengah  (4 Answers)

Hi,

Am planning to go to one of the islands. Which one would you recommend? Would Lang Tengah be a good choice since it is in between the other islands.

Also where should I stay if I want some where clean, comfortable and reasonably priced.

Thank you in advance for your advice.

Aryani Hotel  (2 Answers)

Hi
We go to Terengganu at the end of March. Can anyone tell me about the Hotel Aryani?
We keep hearing conflicting reports; its a small, intimate and secluded hotel with all the facilities, but also that its run-down and shabby. Can anyone whose been there recently put our minds at rest?
Also, what are the best things to see and do whilst we are there? We've travelled around Malaysia, but never been to Terengganu before.

Monsoon Advice  (2 Answers)

HI guys, only 6 weeks or so before we fly now, and we're all very excited! We all work in healthcare so some rest and relaxation is very much in order!!

We're due to arrive at the Tanjong Jara on 1st March 2006 for 12 nights, can anyone let me know how the monsoon is at the moment and if it shows any signs of easing up! I know we'll probably have the odd downpour when we are there but some sun would be nice!!!!

Some re-assurance would be good please!!!!

Many Thanks

Chris

Gem Wellness Spa & Island Resort  (2 Answers)

Anyone been to this refurished hotel on Gem Isle? Recently I'm planning a trip to Malaysia in July and found this hotel from the Internet (). There are just a few pics showing the Water Villa in its homepage (which are very nice) but I also found some pics from other online travel agencies showing their rooms which are rather old, so now I'm confused if this resort has refurished all their rooms or just part of it and I'm worrying if they will get me an ugly room when I check in.

Please share with me if anyone here has stayed there before, how's the environment there? how's the food there? how's the spa there?

Thanks very much!
