my husband and I would like to spend a night or two in panntai merdeka.
is there any kampong houses on stilts ? we already know about the resort. is it safe as a whole to stay there ? is it safe to overnight and park our car there ? Any info about the place are all welcome .
Thank you Fern and other who reply me here, my computer was down for the past 2 days, just to add more problem for me.
So, the booking is still not down yet, change to another agent,
service is good, but the first resort i optioned langkawi Lagoon resort, fully booked, no i am waiting for the agent reply, see if they can get me a room anyhow in this island, as my air tickets are fixed. can not imagine that i arrive there with 2 kids but no any place to stay. is it possible? if i don't get room by the end of the day, is this mean that i should cancell my trip to langkawi, despite my airtickets, so confused here. and my flight to malaysia is tomorrow 18th july.
funny thing is that i have paid by credit card by the time of first booking, as i habe been informed by my bank, hope i can get it back, maybe i should cry, not funny at all.
thanks you all
i just phoned the Marimari travel agent after 2 days waiting for the resort booking information, they simply told me langkawi island is fully booked for the month Jul, and Aug, not even 1 room that i can get through them in this island, is it possible?
and what makes upset is that they didn't have to let me wait for 2 days to tell me No. if i didn't ask them my booking today, i guess they will just keep me waiting till God knows when, can't believe their service, already shaked my anticipation for going to malaysia.
anyway, stll have the problem here, need a place to stay for 3 or 4 days in langkawi for 2 adults and 2 kids, will it possible to find in this time. please help me here.

We're a group of student about 20 person including 2 teacher, we need to know that the price of the resort in Langkawi, Pantai Cenang/ Pantai Tengah.
Therefore, we need a reasort that the price is cheap and near by the sea.
I duno I should select :
Malibest resort or
Sunset Beach resort or
Awana Porto Malai or
Beach Garden resort.
Lastly, hope you all guys can give some opinion that we need a cheap/clean/near by the sea's resort.
We hope can get some special discount for us.
Hope you all can reply as soon as possible.
Thanks a lot.
Have just returned from 2wks on Langkawi and thought i would share my thoughts. It has been a wonderful relaxing time which myself and husband thoroughly enjoyed. If i had to find something negative to say it would only be about our hotel room. The location of The Lanai our hotel right at the end of Tengah beach was absolutely fine. I loved the greenery and surroundings and proximity to the beach. Unfortunately the room was a bit of a disappointment. Very basic and a bit shabby around the edges but it was adequate for just being a base for B&B and did have a very nice pool.We were pleasantly suprised to find the area so quiet and not at all touristy as we had been told just before going that it was. It wasn't our idea of touristy at least. Lack of night life didn't bother us as we don't look for that in a holiday but it might be too quiet for some. Some of the wonderful memories I bring back with me are of stopping along the mangrove river and feeding the monkeys, spotting eagles, seeing dolphins swimming in the sea along side our boat. From our balcony we could also spot monkeys in the trees which for me was a real suprise and treat. Food was delicious and we tried many places and all types. Just a couple of reccomendations in Tengah are Fat Mum's and Sheelah's, lovely food. Went to The Lighthouse too for our anniversary meal, pricier but very romantic sitting by the beach at a candlelit table under a palm. Taxis were so cheap so didn't bother to hire a car and the drivers were very accommodating and would take us to different places and wait for us. The town of Kuah was worth a visit and apart from nice air-conditioned shopping malls had some really lovely gardens to walk around called Lagenda Park. Having read it was not safe to swim in the sea I was pleased to find this not the case and enjoyed swimming almost every day. I did see small jellyfish and a couple of times did feel as if I'd been stung but it was nothing major and certainly not enough to put me off. The beach was lovely and we could always find a large area to ourselves. Tanjung Rhu at the top of the island was a beautiful beach and the day we were there I counted only 3 other people on it. All in all it was a wonderful holiday, the weather, scenery, food, animals & birds, places of interest etc. Would definitely go back but probably choose another hotel further up Tengah. We saw some bungalows set just back from the beach, think it was Langkawi Holiday Village. Has anyone stayed there? Also much further up was what looked like a brand new wooden Malaysian style resort but no sign of anyone there so perhaps it hasn't opened yet. Oh, well back to reality.
We are off to Langkawi Feb 1st and staying at the Lanai on Pantai Tengah. I have just read somewhere that it is not advisable to swim in the sea there due to jellyfish. I am really disappointed but we are within walking distance to Cenang beach does anyone know if it is ok to swim there or is it the same all over the island? Many thanks.
Hi, Anybody have stayed at this resort on langkawi? Any comments on it. Where is it located? I searched thru the internet n found it was something like near Pantai cenang. Is it the one between AB Motel and semarak Beach? How is the service and prices? Thanks a lot

Hi! I will be going to Langkawi with my wife for a week in February and am trying to decide between the Mutiara Burau Bay and the Sunset Beach Resort . Quite keen on Mutiara but am worried it may be out of the way. Haven't heard a lot about the Sunset Beach although the rooms look decent on its website. Also would like a nice clean beach. Any advice? Also, would appreciate any advice on what to do on the island. Is the Marine park any good for snorkelling? Thanks!
