I am traveling to Namibia in March. Originally I was only doing fish river canyon, but I'd love to head North and over to Swapokmund. Is it touristy in March? Would I be able to sign up and do excursions in the dunes with people or have most left since the summer is over?
Swakopmund is very busy over the Christmas/New Year period with locals but supports a good amount of general tourism year round. You won't have any trouble booking excursions.
Swakop is a small town that was not terribly busy or exciting when we were there a year ago November. I understand it gets quite busy during the school holidays in December / January and then quietens right down.
