I am going to Portugal (Monte Gordo) in three weeks time and planning to go visit Spain for a couple of days. Any idea how to get to Spain from Monte Gordo? Is there any bus or train everyday?
Thanks for your help!
There are no trains across the border. There are no direct buses from Monte Gordo into Spain, the nearest place where the buses cross into Spain is Vila Real de Santo Antonio, about 1.5 miles away. There are two or three buses at civilised hours (depends which day) to Huelva and Seville plus one at 01.30am which may not be quite what you want.
There is also a little ferry across the river from Vila Real to Ayamonte, from where there is a fairly thin bus service to Seville, more frequently to Huelva. There are no trains from Ayamonte, the railway was closed many years ago and the station was converted into the bus station.
For details please take a look here
Local buses at Monte Gordo to Vila Real etc
I hope that helps.
Ahh..thank you sooo much! helped me a lot, really appreciated!
Bus bus, no trains from Montegordo.
There is a little railway station at Montegordo. It is about 15 minutes walk from the centre of the town, just on the other side of the N125 road. However, the buses to Vila Real are much more convenient as they leave from the centre of town and are much more frequent, on weekdays at least, than the trains. Also, the ferry is about 10 minutes walk from the railway station whereas the buses stop right next to it.
